  1. But not to forget North Coates which was fairly successful and was mainly Beaufighters which sunk over 500,000 tons of shipping with a further 500,000 damaged. It was a Bloodhound battery after the war and parts are still civil flying today. Will Try and get some pictures as it's only 15 miles up the coast from here Picked this up from Helion not got into it yet but might start it sooner than later Still available https://www.helion.co.uk/military-history-books/to-force-the-enemy-off-the-sea-the-story-of-the-rafs-north-coates-strike-wing.php?sid=b1956443f0975248f85290a3e61fe8dd

So if anybody is interested I don't think they will last long. Bob

  11. More from Wingleader Boston/Havoc Tempest MkV Liberator (Coastal Command) https://madmimi.com/p/492df71?pact=563949-177480859-11360471208-c312f83a763e68c8a9b77e32bac661397ef188d4 Bob
  12. Wingleader have another couple of titles out on the Spitfire and Halifax https://wingleader.co.uk/shop/ But they also have a photo archive section https://wingleader.co.uk/wingleader-archive/ not cheap to join but "it might be worth a punt" I think I might treat myself for Christmas Bob
  13. My personal favorite is jewelry cement Hypo no problems, no fuss, https://www.gssupplies.com/gs-hypo-cement Bob
  14. OR !! Try the Mr Hobby range of rattle can primers and finishers, the Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 grey is my right hand for preparing models for casting, it's really good on 3D stuff. Just mist it on and let it dry don't worry if you think it looks oversprayed just leave it and it shrinks onto the surface and fills any imperfection. Bob
  15. Silicon grease on the cap threads helps, you can have the top tighter without the whole lot glueing it's self together Bob
  16. Hi, Found this on Britmodeller https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235046552-faa-hellcat-info-needed/ Looks like they used a blast plate as per Swordfish but with fairings as some of the initial rocket fits, (the swordfish aerodynamics was not an issue) but if you trawl round some of the British aircraft with rockets fitted, it looks like the original blast plate with fairings added. It looks like Mk 3 rails in most photos the clips are a pig to replicate ( but 3D might come to the rescue). The Typhoon picture is Mk 1 rails. Bob
  17. Hi, The angle throws it out, but front clips, no rear easily seen possibly hiding in the "fins" but it's a Mk 3 rail will have a search. Bob
  18. The golden age of opencast , trilbys, bowlers and flat caps Bob
  19. Totally Wrong at every level, why do companies come out with stuff like this are they that desperate for cash flow. Over the years I have seen a few bad choices for diorama builds, but recently a publication in very poor taste now this if they wanted a subject Piccards "Trieste" as a mainstream kit. Bob
  20. Picked this up not had a chance to have a good read yet. https://www.helion.co.uk/military-history-books/frances-war-in-indochina-volume-1-the-tiger-versus-the-elephant-1946-1949.php Bob
  21. Using chemical agents is fairly easy quite a few companies make it it's just a dipping fluid, model railways it's burnishing and the gun collectors call it blueing but they all turn brass black. https://www.migjimenez.com/en/auxiliary-products-glues/260-photoetch-burnishing-fluid-100ml.html https://www.uschivdr.com/shopping-categories/shop-chemicals/ As it's a chemical take to normal precautions. Bob
  22. 3D scanning is getting better and better I've had a few things done, the beauty is that once you have the object in a 3D file it can be altered, re-sculpted and manipulated to get the part you desire. Eddie the guy I have been working with in 3D for well over 10 years is now offering a scan and print service. https://zealotminiatures.com/3d-scan/ He is one of the best in the industry and knows it from the users angle.
