  1. There is a warning on the instructions that the Tamiya wash could make the kit plastic brittle so based on that, I have stuck with the Mig washes that I already have. Carl
  2. Thanks Tim, I just ordered a couple of your paint racks. Carl
  3. That's what my son's looked like before he gave it flying lessons. They really are impressive. I'm also tempted to get another one and 'go to town' on it too. But first, I want to finish Skipper. Carl
  4. Here's some pics of a couple finished kits. These are in bare plastic with no paint: And here's Bravo after running into some AAA, er,my son's enthusiastic flying around the house : Carl
  5. Yup! After I picked up the Tamiya Corsair, I had to come up with a reason to finish my very stalled Trumpeter build. So I ditched all the AM ( I think I have everything made for the kit) that was supposed to go into it and have assembled the basic fuselage and wings. Some of its not very pretty but I don't think my son will mind once it's completed. Carl
  6. I bought mine at Wheels and Wings in Toronto so they're definitely available here. I know Sprue Bros has them on their site as well. Who would have thought we'd see licensed Disney products being made by a Russian model firm being sold in North America? Carl
  7. It's a great kit. I built one for my 2 1/2 year old son. The details are really nice and the fit is impressive for a snap together. I built it gear up. Unfortunately, it won't hold up too well to too much flying around the room I'm currently part way through turning my Trumpeter F4U into Skipper. Their Cars kits are great too.
  8. Hi Brian, Great recovery there. Can't wait to see the colour coats go on. One question for you. Do you know what part# 27 is for? I've gone through the instructions and can't seem to find where they are used. I'm not sure sure if I've just missed their placement but thought I would ask for a second opinion. I think they're supposed to go between the props and fuselage and replace/go over the crankcase. They're the same diameter and height as the crankcase. Carl
  9. The Modelling News page has the same pics with an AFV Club logo and scale listed on them. http://www.themodellingnews.com/2013/11/and-now-there-are-three-f-104g-in-32nd.html#more Not sure if that would be sufficient confirmation but it works for me. Carl
  10. Hi Nico, I have these decals for my Tamiya kit: http://www.hlj.com/product/MKIWD32054/Air I haven't used them before so I can't comment on their quality but they seem fine. Carl
  11. I hear you. A few years ago, Squadron made it so that all orders to Canada were shipped by UPS. Which meant UPS brokerage fees of around $50 on top of the shipping costs. I haven't ordered anything from them or any other online retailer that will only ship via UPS. Carl
  12. I just received my copy from Ally Cat and am thinking of getting a second one to use on a PCM Mk XIV kit to make a PR XIX. Might need a bit more work getting some parts to work but I think it won't be too challenging. Carl
  13. If you're up to a card model, IPMS Austria has a 1/33 CF-101 on their website. http://www.ipms.at/ipms/product_info.php?info=p91_McDonnell-CF-101B-Voodoo.html&XTCsid=2lbtji1n9eak4gpopipg31cn14 You can also get a pre-cut frame for it to make assembly a bit easier. Carl
  14. Great progress Brian, Your pilot figure looks great. I think I may have missed it but have you decided on a final paint scheme yet? Carl
  15. Hi Frank, Like everyone else, sorry to hear about your crash and glad that your injuries aren't worse. All my 2 wheel riding has been the self propelled kind but that hasn't stopped me from getting into my share of prangs. Most recently, last year I was out on the maiden ride of my new FS mountain bike and ran into a car doing a sudden u-turn in front of me. Thankfully there were about 8 cops standing behind me so there was no way the driver could say it was my fault. Get better soon and I look forward to seeing progress on your WIPs. Carl
  16. Looks great. I can't believe you painted it three times. I probably would have given up after the second attempt. It's great to see your perseverance pay off. Carl
  17. A couple of Dremels here.I still remember when I first got it. I couldn't believe I'd gone so long without using one. I also use a silent compressor for my airbrushing but its on its last legs so I'm looking for a new one. I also occasionally use a cordless drill as a mini lathe. I just put the part in the chuck and just use a low rpm. Carl
  18. That's a cool video. Nice to see the different techniques used and explained. There is a UK bike company that uses titanium 3D printed parts on their bikes: http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/video-3d-titanium-printing-of-bicycle-components-37404/ I also saw a home machine on Kickstarter so we're not that far a way I'd say from printing kits at home. Carl
  19. Great progress. I remember reading somewhere they were nicknamed the Bozo Noses. Could be wrong though. If you're using the kit Zuni launchers and need another set, let me know since I won't be using the ones in my kit. Carl
  20. The Tamiya E and EJ kits are pretty much the same inside the box. The main difference being the decal sheets. The Tamiya EJ kits represents the earlier versions of the plane prior to the Kai updates. Carl
  21. I have both the D Mold and Rhino intakes. I can't remember which is which but I'm fairly certain the D Mold ones are on top: And from the other side: There are definitely differences between the two. I used the Rhino ones my F-4J build and I think the only fit issue was operator error as one side was fine but I needed a bit of filler on the other: Hope that helps a bit. Carl
  22. That was my guess. Spiritual brother to the Hellcat? Carl
  23. I think the original release of the F-22 kit was in pink styrene and came with decals to cover the entire airframe in anime girls. It was part of their Idolmaster series: http://www.hlj.com/product/HSGSP271/Air Carl
