This can also be caused by humidity in the air, known as "blushing".

I am not 100% sure, but it seems to be a picture from a III C or S from the Swiss AF. You can clearly see the compartment behind the ejection seat, which, however, was not taken into account by Italerie or Revell. I am sure Nick might be of help here too, if this is related to your version.

I've just checked my references, and have discovered that not only have I got the paint demarcation at the wing root wrong, but the painting guide in the conversion instructions has the curved demarcation from the canopy to the exhausts wrong too. Not sure if I'll do anything about that, but I'll definitely be fixing the wing roots, as they didn't look right to me anyway. Most the of the demarcations should be quite fuzzy also, as the paint appeared to be little more that slapped on for the movie, but I don't feel like taking on that airbrushing challenge right now!

Well this isn’t happening, this ladder is an imprecise mess. I can’t think of a better candidate for a 3D printed replacement. Having profile shots of the part will make it somewhat easy to reproduce. I use Fusion 360 and have a Creality Halot Sky printer,  more details as I get it sketched up.

Huzzah! Some more of that dreaded masking later, we have what I reckon is probably my first completed multi-tone camouflage paint job in about 7 years.
 

 

 

 
I had a tiny bit of paint lifting, and of course managed to break off one of the tailplane support struts during de-masking.
 

 
The model certainly has a few rough edges close-up, but there's little point in chasing my tail over it at this stage. I really need to get this one over the finish line after all this time, so that I can attend to all the other models on my Shelf of Doom!

That is some seriously neat work -when I built a car model I found it very challenging, as normally a bit of shading and weathering will hide some imperfections which you can't use to hide a slip-up now
