It will need several coats to cover the green plastic. Working on the P-47 at the same time made me realize just how small the 109 is . Or how big the P-47 is. Hermann would never fit in the 109. Maybe I should have given him a captured P-47 !
-
Started yesterday. Simple build. Not much detail to worry about or even worth showing. The fit is rather good for such an old mold.
-
I should have added: What if Hermann wasn't fat !

Hi all, The Schmetterling in this GB is nearly done.Same for the P-47 in the D-Day GB. Time to start another project. What if Hermann Goring still flew during WW-2 and had his plane painted like his Fokker in WW-1 ? All white Me 109 E. He would only fly the white Me 109 when going on inspections to airfields inside Germany. Escorted by several Me 109's as his personal bodyguards I shall use the FROG/Hasegawa kit I managed to buy last month for only 10 Euro's at the Antwerp convention. Should be an easy build and paintjob. Overall satin white. .

To be or not to be accurate, that is the question

I rarely build anything based on an actual plane. All about being bussy and enjoyment. -
Delivered in overall sand to the front. Camouflage was up to the crew in the field. Maybe I could add smoke rings. Not many would identify this as the Tony at first glance
-
Indeed ! I got one for 20 Euro's at a convention last month. The older releases can still be found for far less money !
-
Far from perfect. But good enough for me. Painting is not based on a real P-47. Will add some tail marking or extra stripes to dress it up a bit.
-
The wings fit perfectly. Ready for painting.

The Aircraft we would HAVE to Scratch Build Right Now

Must be the BP-Defiant in 24 th or 18 th scale -
Hi all, I shall build this in the GB. It also runs in the P-51 GB on Britmodeller and must be done by 9 th June. Let's get started.
-
WE 's progress. This kit fits like a glove.
-
I bought this cheap at the Antwerp convention. Looks like a good easy build for this GB.
-
The main build is done with a rough base coat. This also fills the small gabs. From now on it all about painting.
-
First progress. Don't compare this ancien kit with Hasegawa or Trumpeter. No cockpit and engine worth showing. Bad fitting.I added a small screw inside to fix the wings stronger to the fuselage. So,again, this will be all about the "overall look" I plan to do this as a "museum" plane with full stripes.

First progress...

Hi all, I managed to buy this at the Antwerp convention today. I needed to find something for this GB.
-
A nice catch at the Antwerp convention today. All compleet and unstarted. 1/24 P-51: 20 Euro's ! P-47: 10 Euro's Me 109: 10 Euro's P-35 : 10 Euro's. First to be build is the P-47 in the D-Day GB.

Hi all, My second "what-if" is a more plausible one. Anno 1942: Germany is providing Japan with the DB 601 engine for their new Kawasaki 61 fighter. In return, Germany wants 100 planes . The Messerschmitt works will make some small changes for use by the Afrikakorps. Calling it the Me 61 "Schmetterling" I shall use the Hasegawa kit.
-
It's made of seperate sides and tops. Easy to mess up with glue. Review... https://www.hyperscale.com/2010/reviews/kits/revell04688reviewbg_1.htm
-
Thank you. My next one will be based on the Japanese Tony. A more plausable Luftwaffe plane called the " Schmetterling" .
-
Changes I did: * three blade prop. * larger airintake * merged right door and upper windows into fuselage. * tinted windows * drop tanks * small antenna when flying.Large antenna when on the ground.

There's the big convention Antwerp/Belgium 16 th March. Let's go hunting for some cheap Revell and Hasegawa kits that fit the rules.
-
Top is done. Revell satin enamels brushpainted. The rudder is unpainted plastic.Same will be done with the underside wingtips.
