  1. Thanks Ron, but I wasn't really happy with the overall look of it and that's why I let it go. The old Hasegawa kit has a more accurate outline but is long in tooth.
  2. Hasegawa or Revell doing it wouldn't break my heart either
  3. I seriously hope Tamiya will bring out a new one of each of these before I can retire!! The 2 new Corsairs are awesome! I am trying to build all of the a/c that were on my Dads ship USS Bunker Hill CV-17. Have the Trumpeter F4U-4, TBF & TBM Avengers, these along with the new Corsairs fill the majority of the compliment. Just need Better quality F6F-3 & F6F-5 kits and new tool SB2C-1 & SB2C-4 variants and I'm good! Anyone with me on this?
  4. Thanks guys! Kevin, you can mail order them from Target < http://www.target.com/p/battat-terra-dinosaur-nanshiugosaurus/-/A-15432371> If that doesn't work for you I have a few extra sets I could sell you or anyone else interested.
  5. Been doing some sculpting for the Battat toy company while I still recover from Multiple Myeloma. Broke my C-1 vertebrae in mid January, so I'm lucky to be alive as well as not being a quadriplegic!!! Wearing a neck brace 24 x 7 and just finished radiation treatments last week. So, I've fallen behind a bit, but Battat is a GREAT company to do work for! Very understanding. So here are the paint masters of the toys I've finished. Hope you like them. They are available at Target Stores.
  6. I don't know if he's still in business but, Roberts Models took over the entire line of Combat Models years ago. Here's the website < http://combatmodels.us/ >
  7. SB2C Helldiver ( both -1C and the -5 versions), Val, Kate, Judy ( inline & rotary versions)
  8. As a matter of fact Ken Walsh flying out form Okinawa in the F4U-4 Corsair scored his 21st and final victory against a "Kamikaze" Zero on 22 June 1945.
  9. The F4U-4 did actually se combat in WW II in the Okinawa campaign. Several Marine as well as some carrier based -4s were involved in several missions. My Dad was aboard the USS Bunker Hill which was on it's way back to the Pacific Theater when the war ended. His ship had F4U-4's on board. I have several pics of him next to -4s during Operation Magic Carpet.
  10. Mine landed at $125.00 each from HLJ
  11. Go my shipping notice yesterday.
  12. The Revell kit is the He 219A-7 while the ZM kit is the He 219A-0 besides the obvious price difference and level of add-ons and detail in the ZM kit.
  13. I'm sure the decal folks will make us happy!
  14. " I hope it's better than the example Vaughn had! " That was my thought!! Hence, the don't shoot the messenger!!
  15. I have no affiliation. Don't shoot the messenger!!
  16. The F4U-1D and F4U-4 are different animals! F4U-4 has chin scoop on cowling, different exhaust arrangement, 4 blade prop, center section of lower wing is completely different, windscreen is also completely different just off the of of my head. Cockpit is also different. Not quite as radical as P-51B and D but you get the point. The TBF/TBM differences are similar. TBF had cowl gun TBM had none. TBM has chin scoop, TBF not. Tail hooks are also in different locations.
  17. Awesome, been dying ( bad choice of words on my part! LOL) to do a VF-17 birdcage!!! Next up -1 as Big Hog and -1D as a VF-84 bird probably Roger R.Hedricks' #167) and my USS Bunker Hill theme will be nearer completion! I'll wait for the upgraded Tamiya -1 & -1D.
  18. I believe the Master Caster set and Vector set are for the F4U-1 NOT the -4.
  19. Seeing that my modeling will be extremely limited, I'd love to see an SB2C-3/5, new F4U-1,1A,1D, and F6F-3/5/5N same quality and accuracy as the Trumpeter TBM-3. So if Hasegawa will new tool the Hellcat as well as the others or Tamiya does any or all 3, I'll be happy.
  20. He will sorely be missed. A wise and level headed man in so many ways. His knowledge & advice will be missed deeply. I only wish I had the honor to meet him in person. I only knew him through LSP and it was an honor to be a member along with serving on the board with him. Godspeed Dr. Charles!
  21. Vaughn, The vac kit is basic, some scribed detail from the best my memory can pop up for now! Entire upper half & lower half. I had the kit years ago. Roberts Models adds some generic resin details ( mostly repops of other kits parts) seat, wheels, etc. not generally accurate. I have some B&W pics I took of the Horten at the Garber facility years ago I could send you/ post. One of my favorite a/c! I hope someone comes out with a resin or plastic version in the future. Once I'm over this crap I'm dealing with and can start models again I may have to be a bit more picky on my choices and the Ho 229 is at the near top of the list.
  22. Vaughn, Roberts Models has the old Combat Models Horten in Vacuform. Don't know if this will help you any. Dan
