  1. MUCH better for sure. Will make a great foundation for finishing this beastie up! Great work!
  2. Nice! I really like the smash/plunge molding idea for the spinners. Odd looking that a 4 engined beast like this has no secondary forward facing co-pilot seat/section
  3. I ordered Ultracasts WW2 German Fighter Pilot Figure in Late War Leather Jacket #54004. VERY nicely sculpted. Some of the best I have ever seen. I believe its a M Good figgie.
  4. Neat! I really like how closely the Gold resembles the 1:1 GH color. Looks really close to my eye. Looking like a real head turner............cant wait to see it completed!
  5. VERY sweet indeed! Really nice build............you dont often see the post war markings of any kind built. Well done!
  6. Noice! real noice............... Great work! One of these days Ill tackle a vac, as I have my 32nd F7F staring at me. For now Ill watch your fantastic effort!!
  7. I cant seem to find mention of it anywhere.........what is the price point on the Stearman?
  8. What can I say? I live just a few hrs down the road from Gordon and crew, and after conversing with their operation in 2011, they pretty much are all I use as well.....................I have received orders literally the day after placing them. Service and shipping second to none IMHO. Plus, as was mentioned they run 1/2 price shipping specials and provide free shipping with orders over a couple hundred bucks. They are definitely where Ill be purchasing my 229(s?) from.
  9. Looks fantastic Pete! Yes he would! Shep was an inspiration to all my not-so-well-done dios when I was a kid, and an inspiration to me just a few weeks ago doing my Fw-190 dio.
  10. Thanks again Boris. I cant DL or look at the pics as I am not a member of ww2aircraft.net forums, but I do see the shadow outline. If every 1:1 R/2 wing you are seeing has the covers, then I will go ahead and add them to mine. Cheers!
  11. Cool.....................thanks Boris. I have in fact seen them on some R/2 builds, but have never seen any pics of the 1:1 A-8 R/2 top wing to know if that is correct or not.
  12. Neat! I like the look..............as was mentioned..............brush painted? NICE! I dont think I could have pulled that off if I had to. Great job!
  13. Ok guys another assist needed here.................. The canon covers on the A-8 R/2 seen here: The R/2 had the larger (and SHORTER) Mk 108 canon in this position as apposed to the longer MGs used in the standard A-8. My question: Is this top side wing canon cover correct for the R/2 version with the larger Mk 108 canon instead of the stock longer MGs?
  14. Kewl! That does look neat................I should really build an F-84 one of these days to set next to my Mig-15................it just all the reports from everyone building one of these has the same thing as you to say............LOVE the look and shape of the kit when done, but the need for corrective AM is there which causes headaches in an already sorta ill fitting kit. Great job either way, and am looking forward to some paint!
  15. Not really a model boat guy (which is odd having been in the USN and not liking to model USN modern grays nor ships ) but this is really fanTASTIC modeling. The scratch building is some of the best I have ever seen very cool project!
  16. Neat! That looks terrific Lou! You really dont see enough OD mustangs............
  17. Kewl! I like the look of it a lot. You dont see this kit built very often. Congrats on a fine looking model! Is the spine antenna supposed to be canted off to starboard like that? Takes nothing away from a great build if it isnt..........
  18. Neat! Was it ever in anything but white?
  19. I was wrong. Great vid though! Ooops...............wasnt supposed to look at that Ok, maybe a tie. Doesnt mean I cant appreciate them............I just think they are spugly is all
  20. SB.com doenst have the "Perfect Plastic Putty" by Deluxe, as I have also wanted to try that as well............but does list the Vallejo plastic putty..............just out of stock atm. Bummer. Was going to add some to my next SB order. Oh well, will have to wait for it
  21. Agreed. Met and conversed with him and his translator at the 2011 US NATs here in Omaha. Great man, with a GREAT amount of passion for what he does.
  22. Yes, VERY lovely build Tom! The conversion turned out beautifully.
  23. Im not sure if/what the diff between the actual gear (tires are a different story) of teh E VS G VS K model 109s are, but the generic 109 G-Factor gear are really nice: Agreed, with the awkward angle the 109 gear sets at it might not be a bad idea to pick a set up...................IF you can find a set that is................... SprueBrothers is out......................Freetime is out, and most of the E-Bay auctions I have found are out as well, but Im sure you can find a set somewhere. Cheers,
  24. Depends on the 1/32nd kit.................... Say, the 1/32nd ZM USN Spad I built...............fairly short straight legs that are very well made, and can support quite a weight right OOB. Same with kits like WnW kits..............no metal gear made, nor needed. Same with kits like the Has P-40 I built, simple short, straight legs that dont have to support a lot of overall weight. On the flip side, you have kits like the HKM B-25 (and possibly their B-17 too) really needs the metal gear IMHO. Lots of overall weight AND size...................also recommended IMHO for kits that might be smaller but have awkward or very long gear like the Has Fw-190 Im working on atm could really benefit from metal gear with the overall length of the gear even though the kit is not that heavy. Metal gear also recommended for most any resin kits, especially IMO for solid core resin kits that weight a lot. Just be aware of the differences between the metal in metal gear..........not all gear sets are even worth while. Some may differ in opinion, but soft(er) white metal gear from the likes of companies like S.A.C. are not worth the time IMHO, as most of the time they are copies of the OOB kit gear, and are even sometimes not as strong as the OOB gear and can tend to bend under any kind of stress. On the other hand, white brass gear from the likes if Ernie @ G-Factor are DEFINITELY worth the bucks and time, as the white brass is very strong, resists bending and the oleos can be polished without too much work. HTH,
