  1. Vernon,u've got a point, but also: Mig-3, D520,F4F-4,two F4u's,F4f3,and pending: I-16,MS 406?,Hawk 75,P-38..... SO balance against some 109s and a couple of 190s(the A/F is a retool) and the others are new tools - have you ever built the Rev 109? the hase birds are filling a gap from the early days that is needed to just have an accurate kit OOB. I would have rather seen the Arado 196 float plane than the 162... that said Iwould also like to see the Jap stuff retooled- burned out on the A6m5? did they ever make a ny other planes?I would like to see better rounded selection from each era;I think there is a marketing guy sitting in a room...... mtcw(my two cents worth) mike in calif
  2. Chris, they are good looking birds!Do you modify all of your revell 109s- length, cowl ,ETC? do you have as many 109s as LSP Chris has jugs?( no pun intended!) would love to see an Airfix 109E- cheers and thanks for sharing mike in calif
  3. Looks good-but I wouldn;t have minded a re-tool of a jap plane, hint hint or another 1/28 WWI plane IE albatross,Sopwith tripe,SE5a;a retool of the jug,p-51,spit or p-40.... but I'll probably get at least one. when will the resin be available? cheers all mike in calif
  4. In leiu of using machine oil ,vegetable oil is just as effective and is not petroleum based-won't melt or make the parts muushyy. cheers mike in calif Darn nice work Chris!
  5. Chris , guess that explains the jug in your collection, which is, I think, a classic WWII image; tough days ,tough men. oh yeah- they won! mike in calif
  6. Jeff, nice work. I was also impressed(no pun intended) with the ejector pin in the seat trick. what are you going to use for belts? regards mike in calif
  7. Tony, if memory serves the hase kit gives you both style canopies,a few different weapons arrangements, and is compatable with verlindens 'E' update set which is rather comprehensive,in resin and P/E. it also features raised panel lines:( ;but does have very fine surface rivet detail, which 'pops' nicely when painted. I was able to back date one to an E-1 rather easily. (the Rev G-4 Trop will go back to a "Friedrich" rather easily too!)Eduard has an exterior and interior set for the Hase kit as well. contact me off post for an idea.... cheers mike in calif
  8. Jeff,Very nice job! I guess this looks good next to the F-16? Does all the stuff still work? mike in calif
  9. Tony, fantastic job on the 'stang. I have been plugging away on the Rufe from pascal, but the new MIG-3 has been a distraction.......and yesterday got a WWI marine in 120mm;trying to balance three kits on the bench! best to all, happy new year mike in calif
  10. Chris, again, impressive jugs! I really like the electronics stuff folded in to the kit. I have a shortshot razorback fuse-portside, a smallish hole under 'pit above wing root. stbdside, larger hole on spineabout 2-3cm long1cmdeep, triangular shape. the fuse fits properly at the seams. any of you t-bolt guys can have it. mike in calif
  11. Tony, great WWII era photo-very artsy. Oh, nice lookin plane too! would love to see some more. Always glad to see a fellow modeller that is as slow at completing kits as I. Have you started the 162 ? Hoping all is well with you and that you look forward to a happy and successful new year. regards mike
  12. Chris, fantastic jugs! Nothing gets the old heart pumpin' like a pair of big, beautiful jugs, and the nmf is superb. how u do dat? is that the stock! rev kit? Do you ever plan to do a FokkerDVII or maybe a Camel ? thanks again for the inspiring visual. Merry Christmas from the left coast mike in calif
  13. Chris , under the 109 heading- do you consider the 109E to be as bad as the rest of the airfix stuff? I compared the airfix and the Bandai kit and the bandai seemed horrible next to the Airfix kit..... see I want an E, then the F, well you get the picture. Trump may have some issues, but they are releasing some undreamed of kits as of a few years ago- any way I'm curious about the Emil. cheers mike in calif
  14. Chris, thanks for the amazing photo-jouney thru the building of your kit. I really like the opening up of the panels to reveal the interior,IE the radio compartment and the rudder thingee. If you need some << in 1/32 I will be happy to send you a set I've got many more than I'll use. Any pics of the 'pit on the FW? also, how do you open the panels: scribe and use the kit parts? thanks again for the pictures- mike in calif
  15. erwin, mark, I would have thought the hase kit would have the correct fuse- IF the builder has to do the surgery does that put the Rev kit ahead of it? I've read that the basic shape is OK ;the 'pit is a little sparse , but hey for 20-25 bucks which puts you ahead? curious- mike in calif
  16. Gary,Gene, lining up some info for the mig-17. is the 'pit the same in both a/c? I traded and acquired a mig-15 B/B set; does this work for the -17? is the splitter that bad? thanks mike in calif
  17. So with some Ta wings you should be well on you wayto a ......... Focke-Wulf Family? A,F,D-9,D-11,AND the Ta! I think there have /or will be more releases in the last year, and potentially the next 6mos than in I don't know how long...!!! cheers mike in calif
  18. Wildcat,greg-I just learned from Pascal that he is working on a "prewired" cockpit as well as flaps and cowl flaps. sounds good! cheers mike in calif
  19. Wildcat ,Greg, I've read your post and have learned alot about zreos that I will use, as well as a new web site. thanks I just got the Rufe set from Pascal H. and am curioyus to know if there are links or sites that can give me more info or drawings?I'm going to go with the Nakajima bluish for the interior with some selective shading and weathering, but may try to open some panels or something and could use any additional info.I already have FAOW#5 , S/Signal,and Bueschels A6m2. suprisingly there is NO info in Jap cockpits Monogram pub. (even the book) thanks for any help. mike in calif
  20. Chris, I have a 150 and occassionally will carefully hone the tip on an Arkansas stone (very hard, very fine)to clean up the tip just a little... If you need the 'pit sides let me know( for thr G-6) Happy Thanksgiving mike in calif
  21. Jeff, do you know if the cockpit works for the revell bird? I started with the verlinden seat(acesII) but it don't fit the cockpit tub- mike in calif
  22. Jeff, which kit is that? I have a Rev F-16N I may crack open w/ Ca. ANG decals. How much did you put in the "office",scribed panels etc? Darn nice job. mike in calif
  23. Ben, For my money(or,well, yours) the Hase 109E is still OK -Multiple versions, good selection of decals,a reasonably accurrate shape and since it has been re-re-released ussually not to expensive. MUCH better than the matchbox thing.I also keep in mind the overlap of kits P-51B/ P-51D 109E/109G Corsair/Hellcat and on andon;and then there is the whole jet thing But I don't really get that... cheers mike in calif
  24. Mark, I am suprised by this still. At the local hobby shop,I saw the latest Osprey? book on "building the Me-110;P-40, Me109 ETC... and they are only 72 and 48 scale kits! I liked Mike Asheys books just because he did alot of 32 scale stuff. WE must be so superior they cant take it! When I take a 32 to the local meets ,they all sure gather around though. heh heh heh keep on building mike in calif
  25. Jeff, very nice build on the F-16. I am definitly more comfortable with WWI and WWII stuff, but seeing models like yours gives me hope that someday I'll try a fast mover. real nice panel work on the aft deck ahead of the tail. cheers mike in calif
