  1. Thank you for deleting the double post! 13 copies left!
  2. Gentlemen, The last offer for the 1/32 Academy F/A-18D went like gangbusters, so let's do it again! Here is the new deal. I also have exactly 20 copies remaining of Flying Leathernecks FL48013 F/A-18D Devil Dog Deltas, which covers the CO's aircraft from VMFA(AW)-121, VMFA(AW)224, VMFA(AW)-225, VMFA(AW)-332, VMFA(AW)-242 and VMFA(AW)-533. In this offer, you have an opportunity to win 2 (TWO) 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18D kits (both kits will go to the single winner)! Here are the 'rules' and information on how the offer will work. In one of the decal sheets there is a 'certificate' notifying the recipient that they have won the Hasegawa kits. These last 20 sheets will be sold at the full retail price of $25.00 (which includes free shipping to US addresses). The flat shipping rate of $5.50 to non-US addresses remains the same as well. NOTE : **ALL 20 sheets MUST SELL** The offer will last until the 30th of June or until all 20 sheets are sold. NOTE : **ALL sheets will be shipped at the same time and only after the last sheet is purchased** Orders must be placed through my web site here: http://flyingleathernecksmodels.com/FL48013.html NOTE : **If all 20 sheets are not sold by the end of June, the offer will be closed and everyone will have their money refunded through PayPal** Like the previous offer, the reason for this is quite simple. I do not know which sheet has the certificate and they are already placed and sealed in their respective shipping envelopes. If all 20 sheets do not sell, the possibility remains that no one will get the certificate. Once all 20 sheets are sold, the order link will be removed from the web site. In the event one or more orders makes it through before I have time to remove the link, those payments will be immediately refunded and canceled. There it is in a nutshell. You are helping me clear out the last of these sheets while giving yourself a chance to get TWO Hasegawa 1/48 F/A-18D kits for $25.00 or $30.50! Again, you have a 1 in 20 shot.......good luck! Dave Update - only 14 sheets are left!
  3. Gentlemen, First, I would like to thank all of you that purchased sheet FL32001 for a chance to win a new Academy 1/32 F/A-18D. The kit is packed and ready to ship to whoever gets the certificate! Now, the winning certificate is going to be pretty self explanatory. On the certificate is an eight digit code, as well as my email address. Upon receipt of your decal sheet, check between the folded instruction sheets to see if the certificate is in your order. If it is, simply email the eight digit code to the email address provided. I will ship the F/A-18D the next business day and announce the winner on the forums.....pretty darn simple isn't it? Now, for a little teaser on part II. I also have 20 copies remaining of FL48013 F/A-18D Devil Dog Deltas.......see where this might be going? You will have a chance to win TWO new 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18D Hornet kits for $25.00! More information tomorrow night, as well as teasers for Flying Leathernecks Kit Give Aways parts III and IV! Dave
  4. Yes, I do. Here is a link to the 1/48 version carried by Spruebrothers: http://store.spruebrothers.com/148-orion-av-8b-harrier-det-cord-v48003-p4778.aspx The 1/32 scale cord is available as well for $6.00 which includes shipping to US addresses. They are made of pre-cut self adhesive gray vinyl and provide a much more realistic rendering than the decal alternatives. Dave
  5. Gentlemen, All 20 sheets have been sold. I will get them all packed up and mailed out Friday afternoon. Thank you and good luck! Dave
  6. Gentlemen, Here is the deal. I have exactly 20 copies remaining of Flying Leathernecks FL32001 F/A-18D Part I, which covers aircraft from VMFA(AW)-121, VMFA(AW)-242 and Kuwait. I also have a brand new Academy 1/32 F/A-18D that I won't get to any time soon. Here are the 'rules' and information on how the offer will work. In one of the decal sheets there is a 'certificate' notifying the recipient that they have won the Academy kit. 7. Barry, First, it was good to finally meet you in person at the Warner Robins show earlier this month! The LAU-7 is very nice and I'm looking forward to seeing the resin product from Zacto. However, I would like to point out that you have modeled the LAU-7A/5 which has not been used since 1988/89. When sending the master to Chris, please let him know that the rail cannot be used on current USN/USMC aircraft (or basically anything from Desert Storm to present). If I had known sooner I could have provided you with measurements of the rail. I worked on them for close to 5 years and with them for about 10 years and know that damn launcher pretty well! Dave
  8. For those of us that are 'Mustang Challenged', what are the differences between the P and F Mustangs? Dave
  9. It isn't about the blue color they were painted in, it's about the Marines that flew them.
  10. Eventually? 2 or 3........for now, just one. My biggest dilemma at the moment is choosing markings for the one I have ordered. I really like Ol' Flak Joe, but already did that aircraft using the Dragon kit. An NMF is out of the question for me (not very good at that!), so that will help narrow down the choices. Now, had Tamiya done an F4U in 32nd scale? Over time I'd be in the dozen or more camp! Dave
  11. After seeing the Trumpeter kit up close, I'll stick with Hasegawa.
  12. Is it too late to join this GB? If not, I'd like to get started on a Tamiya F-4J. Let me know either way. Thanks, Dave
  13. Shawn, Not sure if it's too late or if it matters to you, but the main rotor blades in the Academy kit are incorrectly shaped at the tip. They should look like this (dimensions are in actual inches and 20.9 means 20 feet, 9 inches, etc.): Sorry I didn't catch it sooner! Dave
  14. It's the Academy AH-1W, as noted in the subject title.
  15. Gentlemen, Thank you all for taking the time to post your opinions regarding the Revell kit. As it turned out, while trying to decide on whether or not to actually get it, I was able to get a Tamiya kit for less than half of the current retail price with shipping included. I'm aware the kit will require aftermarket to bring it to current standards and will slowly add to it as time and finances permit. If the Revell kit is still at the local hobby shop this week, I'll have an opportunity to compare them side by side. For what it's worth, I have no intention of ever getting the Trumpeter kit. Thanks once again for all of your input! Dave
  16. Don't waste your time with the glue/putty mixture or sand paper. Get yourself a can of Testors Fabric Tan or Fabric Gray spray paint (it also comes in bottles that can be airbrushed). It was designed to replicate carpet on car models and is very convincing for both non-skid and the ablative coating applied to USMC/USN ordnance. Dave
  17. Shawn, I do have photos and measurements of that area. We're getting ready to start cleaning the house (our regular Sunday family festivity!), so it may be a bit before I can post them. As for the comments regarding the photos. Perhaps just cropping the photos to zero in on the model part would suffice. Dave
  18. Shawn, It's looking good! I had an opportunity to measure an AH-1W at MCAS New River a couple of years ago and have station drawings from Bell that include all of the measurements. I used that information to draw what I feel are the most accurate drawings of the Cobra to date. The profile provided below is just the main air frame as the final drawing may be used in a book, so it can't be shown at the moment. Hopefully they will be of some use to your project. Dave
  19. Gentlemen, Not a big modeling fan of the F-14, but have an opportunity to add a Revell kit to the stash for a really good price. I had the Tamiya kit years ago, but don't remember much about it and have never seen the Trump kit. Other than the kit being old and not up to today's molding standards, are they any serious issues with the Revell kit? Thanks, Dave
  20. While I don't know the full details, I am taking Martin at his word and will not be buying the kit either. Presuming Martin's side of the story is the truth, anyone that does buy the kit is simply condoning the actions of the other partner. F that! I hope they tank. The Chinese partners loss is Tamiya's gain! Hello, Mustang!
  21. You know, after printing out this weeks Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon, I think it's time to go 'lobby' at my local HL's (got two close by) to get the kits in! Wow, I'm really looking forward to this kit. Hell, the last kit I actually finished was the Dragon P-51D shortly after it was released. Maybe I can go 2 for 2 in the big Mustang category!
