  1. Scale up to 1/24 = yes please, will take 5-6 sets.
  2. Not sure yet...not a bad idea though. Guess we'll need to see if there is a demand. The cowling flaps won't work without some sort of ring to attach to (we will include this part in the set), so they might be tricky to use without that.
  3. The MC cowl flaps will need to be modified, they are too small for either the Trumpeter or Revell cowling, but it is an easy fix...get the set!!
  4. Final shots Here are a couple shots of the final cowling and flaps fitted to the kit. We are having a bear of a time getting the inner cowling lip stiffeners to play nice. They fit well but are quite a challenge to install with good results. We may include them as an advanced option.
  5. Really great weathering treatment on the pit...looking forward to the rest! Glad you could get the sight fixed without too much hassle!!
  6. Looks great, pit color should be DDG, but the overall presentation is marvelous. Weathering feels "right on" for 9th AAF "jabo" jug Nailed the NFM, especially for "first time"
  7. Looks great so far, great weathering and paint. One possible fix: is your gunsight on backwards? Reflector shoots image up onto bottom of glass, so that surface needs to face pilot me'thinks eh? Again, looking great so far~
  8. I believe 78th FG used RAF Dark Green over Sky.
  9. I'd try Future/Klear first, see if it fills the scratches by itself. If not, then hit it with one of those 4-sided nail polishers, then toothpaste, then Future/Klear.
  10. There were indeed OD/NG Bubbles delivered from the factory, but they were all foreign-order birds: Russian lend-lease, French, and Brazilian IIRC. The abandonment of camo came around the D-23 Razorback production run, but (at least) the 3 noted above all ordered P-47s to be "painted" and not delivered in natural metal. All USAAF orders for Thunderbolts delivered on and after the D-23 run were done so left in natural metal. I believe in the case of Sigma Nu Girl (D-28 so no dive brakes) and WhooOOOoooOOoo, some foreign order camo'ed birds were re-directed back to USAAF units, but again, this was a rarity and not the norm. Here's a cool (unpub'ed) photo of a bubbletop production line spitting out OD/NG Russian Lend-Lease and RAF camo'ed birds: via G.Lewi (Airpower Museum)
  11. I use Picasa and Google webspace and upload 800 width pics with no problems.
  12. Compression flaps make it a D-30+. Not many OD/Gray bubbles outside of the French and Brazilian, especially D-30s, which the vast majority of went to the 9th AAF. The 56th never flew the D-30, and so you're left with mostly colorful NMFs from the 9th or some post-war ANG ships.
  13. Great expression of the photo, just brilliant!
  14. I'm with Rob here all the way, use the bottle for brush applications (don't even need thinner) and rattle can for all else...it literally has never failed me.
  15. Gunsight I scratched an approximation of the late-model gunsight for the P-47N. This is not an accurate site, but it gives the feel of one I started with a single-stud LEGO brick (don't tell my kids!!) for the body of the sight and added other stuff, plastic card, an MV lens, wiring, a small pin, etc. I'll mount this on the windscreen, or the IP somehow to finalize the cockpit. Engine up next... Thanks for looking in, comments and critiques welcomed!
  16. Wonderful looking F4! The weathering and paint are right on!
  17. The jug came out very well indeed. And I agree, the cockpit color, while incorrect, looks fine. It's the Jug Nuts (like myself, Tim, and others here) who are compelled to bring up these issues, not to deter, but hopefully to enlighten. My first T-bolt build had a Zink Chromate cockpit someone here pointed that out and now I'm destined to never make that error again. http://www.largescaleplanes.com/articles/ChrisSherland/bf109g4/bf109g4.php My old Hase 109, guns installed incorrectly, looks fine. But my subsequent 109s have all been corrected due to that tid bit, again and LSP'er noting my error. Another example; WhoooHooo was a D-26 and did not have dive brakes, but again, this isn't intended to slam your efforts, or point out a defect to put your build down, but perhaps offered so that on your next Jug build you MAY want to increase accuracy in those areas. Here's a great article on US aircraft interiors: http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2004/01/stuff_eng_interior_colours_us.htm The whole thing is worth a read, but the P-47 stuff is in part II. I have the Erection and Maintenance manual for the JUG and as noted in the article it never even mentions DDG, only a mixture of Black and Zink for the interior. Go figure. And finally, again, your Jug does look stunning. Clean build, great weathering, very nice result.
  18. We found a fit issue with the initial PE fret, so we needed to re-tool (Radu). The second shot of the PE frets (final production) should be started this weekend, sorry for the slow going here guys! I added you reconspit for one as well as Bruce and Expat Tomcat. Cheers~
  19. Cockpit fitting Lots of hacking, shaving, grinding, and I've got the cockpit fitting snug, and raised up to a more appropriate elevation in the fuselage. As it comes the kit's pit is quite "sunken" and looks lost in the fuselage. Here it is looking a bit more believable. A little more IP detail. I used the 1/32 Hasegawa P-47 IP decal, enlarged it 200% and printed it at high resolution, then glued that image to the kits IP. I then cut a matching piece of clear plastic and glued that on top to serve as dial face glass. Finally I used sheet styrene, cut a panel and punched out the dial holes, added detail, painted it and glued that on top of the clear part. I'll snap a pic of the panel in better detail before I seal up the fuselage later. ..man this thing takes up some room! But it forces me to clean the bench every day or so Next up is scratching the gun sight in prep for finishing the cockpit. Then on to the engine.
  20. Just looked myself, cannot find them Perhaps they are out of production? Master Casters still has the 47 set here: http://www.mastercasters.co.uk/2.html
  21. http://design-marketingintl.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=1&osCsid=83e2d40ff5ab3e39803f5f1d658ddb2a Should be able to find the Contact Resine wheels here.
