  2. Thank you to those that offered their pallets! I'm actually almost finished but because I modified the kit parts (and only own one kit) I didn't have anything to take comparison pics of the before-after. Here's a teaser pic of some early progress: I'll post an updated comparison pic when I receive the stock parts and then start a thread in the vendors forum when these are ready for market.

  3. Just spotted amongst some new photos on Trumpeter's Facebook page... A 1:32 Douglas A-26 Invader? Someone tell me my eyes aren't playing tricks? I've wanted one for donkeys years - and could bin the ID Models one I started wayback... Iain

  5. A photo of my latest 1:1 Little Boy, Generation V (5th production), in progress: Completed and in place at The Stafford Air & Space Museum in Weatherford, Oklahoma. (At the moment it's under the wing of an F-16 - something you don't see every day!) Photo by Chaney Larsen Cheers, D.B.

  6. Got the rotor head all masked and painted up. Followed by the blades themselves. I painted the underside in black and the upper sides in green. Then everything was put together. At the moment the gun barrel and pitot are all that's left. I broke the Master pitot. It bent so nicely into a Z pattern so I will need to order a replacement. In the meantime, we leave for vacation tomorrow so it'll be a while before I finish. Carl

  7. Hello everyone, My name is Jeff and I am returning to the hobby after building kits as a child/teen. As I grew older, I lurked forums and bought kits hopeful of the day that I would make my return. I feel like that day has finally come to roll up my sleeves and get back to work on a project. I will be working on a HK B-17G that I tentatively plan on building as a B-17G-55-DL from the 91st BG prior to nose art application. Here is the obligatory box shot: ...and here is the aftermarket I will be using. I tried to keep it within reason, so I don't get in over my head getting back into things. I'm happy to be here and looking forward to learning from everyone!

  9. Was posted as a group of photos of the tooling workshop area about 15 hours ago - I scanned quickly through and my eyes popped out on stalks when I saw image. At first it was a 'nah - that's 1:48, isn't it?' - then I saw the one behind... No dates - no announcement that I've seen - no other info... Just a random photo. I hope I haven't got hopes up wrongly - but can only report on what I can see from a photo. https://www.facebook.com/groups/767571186705677/permalink/2111108359018613/ Iain

    RAAF FAC OV-10A Finished!

Hi Mark, Try sending a message now please. Some more work. I have seen a couple of these models built and noticed that the undercarriage is a little flimsy. This is a well known issue with the kit and it requires a solution. I know that there is an aftermarket brass set available but sometimes I prefer a home grown solution. The issue that I can see is that the wheels will bow outward with the twisting of the undercarriage leg with any weight put on it. I drilled a hole through the front cylinder of the gear leg Using a dremel bit I then ground a trench along the horizontal part of the leg, including the axle where the wheel attaches I bent some thick music wire to fit the hole and trench that I made in the parts. This piece of wire fits into the part. Once I had glued the wire into place with super glue, I used a mix of talcum powder and superglue to fill and replace the material removed. Once sanded back to the correct profile, I sprayed the part with SMS primer filler and smoothed it out. The obligatory weight test. A small feature that I have noticed on a lot of period photos is the air vent open in front of the windshield. These sorts of details are well worth adding to give the model a bit of life. The kit has this as a raised panel. I scribed this panel with a pin using a photo etch template. Once happy with the shape, I deepened the scribed lines before using a micro chisel to remove a rectangle of material from the area. Using some thin aluminium and plastic card I made the small pop up vent. I will leave this off until after the model is painted,

  18. Looks like I'll be going with the family. We're ostensibly visiting my sister and her family who moved to Wisconsin in December. They're the next exit off the highway so nice and handy. But first I have to survive an 11 hour drive with my 6 & 8 year olds....

  19. Hmm, sorry, but this one is definitly quarterscale. You know, thouse asians are small people OK, OK, it IS an 32nd scale model. No doubt Is someone able to perform some face recognition of the designers? Just curious to know if this is Trumpeters A- or more someone of the D-to-Z-team OK, seriously now. Glad to see an Invader hit the shelves. Or two. Guess a counter-invader would be the most wanted version of them all. And someone from the AM companies will soon step up with a firebomber conversion. Just my 2 cents. Regards - dutik

  23. I'm heading off this afternoon, somehow I thought driving 16 hours from Kingston, Ontario would be a good idea. I have a campsite on the grounds, along with 40,000 other people. There are many wifi locations, so would a get-together be possible? Two Mosquitos, two Fireflies, XP-82...not bad for a start. Richard

  24. We're an hour into the drive but have only gone 95 km (60 miles -ish). The AC is having a hard time with the extreme heat up here. Definitely pain before pleasure.

  25. We got a seat in the center of the flightline EARLY most days, and most days it was under the wing of one of many private C-47s there. It was hot as blazzes! We did see many, MANY people camped out, and yes under the wings of their planes out in the heat. Must have been pretty miserable. We stayed in a hotel, but it was about a 30 or 40 min drive to the exit for Wittman Field. It was about as close as we could get at the time.

  26. Kevin & Tim So did I, but an "offer was made that I couldn't refuse". My body says I'm through, but the bank account says no, keep going. I think that I now will get to do some things modeling related (smaller scale) that have been put on hold if things in the health area hold up. Keep an eye out in the next couple of months. Thanks, guys. D.B.

  27. WOW!!!! No way anyone can say that is a Trumpeter "typo" either, as that is definitely NOT 72nd or 48th!! This could be like the B-24.............. It may not be perfect, but the only 32nd B-26 on the market! Any listing on time frame for release??

  29. that's incredibly kind of you folks - I am humbled, thank you I got talking to Marvin Meit over at Model Motorcars about needing a light lens for my 1/18 P51 wing landing lamp which they do for the big Pocher car kits and he wanted to see what I was working on - in the course of that, Race #80 came up... next thing I know, he wants a feature on it - so there we go - what a privilige Thanks again Peter PS - I will tell him again it's a Spitfire lol

Jennings thanks for the offer. Harold & Bruce spent days on F-84F this side of pond, Tim and others spent days in Europe on the same mission. i have complete access to just restored RF-84F myself. but if we have any question, i'll ask you. thanx Glen i

  36. Peter's work is amazing and seeing No.80 at Telford was truly inspiring. His work has certainly made me think and stretch myself at times and try doing a few scratch built bits and pieces but he makes it look just so easy. The other aspect of his work that I love is when all of us mere mortals are posting replies to one of his updates saying how very fine it is and next thing we know he has ripped it all apart and done it all again as he was not quite 100% happy with his work. Long may he continue with the wonderful work he shows to us all. Regards. Andy

  37. A little work on landing gear last night. MRP medium sea grey, Molotov liquid chrome, with a little weathering from brown and black colors, followed by panel line wash. The tires are the kit parts, seam lines scraped and weathering completed with fine sanding stick. I think the tires look quite good, although hard to give a weighted appearance. A final dullcoat was given after these pictures were taken.

  41. @Mustang JBB - if you take a look at my earlier post, this was from a series of photos labelled 'tooling workshop area' - which I infer to mean the team that takes the CAD designs and cuts the molds, and applies any tweaks to the moulds during the test shot phase - rather than the design department that creates the initial CAD models. Designing kit 'shapes' and making them suitable/ready for moulding can be two separate disciplines. So, yes, may be posed, maybe not - but I really wouldn't read anything into the mix of subjects. They are similar in style/office environment to ones I've seen before. With regard to source - as I've also said earlier - this particular image is still viewable when the series of images is viewed (oddly) via the Warship Scale Modelling Group, but nowhere else. So with regard to you not finding the image - there's something going on with permissions - and, just maybe, this wasn't meant to be seen yet... In context, this is a screen grab of the group of photos as they appear on the Warship Scale Modelling Group - bottom middle: Nobody is going to go to the trouble of 'spoofing' two 1:32 A-26s, from a source that we believe is a Trumpeter contact/insider IMHO - and that is why I posted. Readers can infer what they like from the photos - but I'm pretty happy with the source... Now, about chemtrails... Have fun, Iain

  43. Hi All, Thanks for the great input. I think my idea of a 3 tone is dwindling, but the midnight blue will be a challenge which could be interesting , and still the option of the FAA scheme. Back from Holidays, but away this weekend then straight back into a 5 day work trip, so this won’t be an overly quick build. I have, however, completed most of the internal structure of the wings, most won’t be visible and credit to Airfix for the level of detail here. It is though, fairly complex, compounded by having one wing folded - it’s a bit of a nightmare flicking back and forth through endless instructions to accommodate this, it was for me at least! Everything has fitted very well, although a few parts have come slightly warped, so a bit of gluing & clamping required in places... Guy Nice view of the stressed skin effect:

  45. I grew up in Wiscony and went to EAA for years on end with my brother. Things change. Moved to the west coast, mid south, then Singapore. Im retiring soon and can’t wait to get back to the States. I’d love to see the XP-82 fly into Oshkosh. I hope they bring it to Oshkosh. A DB powered Bf 109 is also high on my list. That P-61 on the east coast would also be spectacular to see fly someday. I wish all you EAA visitors an awesome visit. Troy

  48. Thanks guys! Well, what's in the box? The instructions and the decals: An empty sprue with the stand to keep it on its three weels and a sprue with wheel spats and some interior parts: A red and a black sprue with interior parts: A sprue with not very convincing figures; the same as in the Cessna and probably the same as in the Hughes 500: Sprues with engine and cowling parts and a flexible sprue with torsion links for the undercarriage and a battery holder to power the electric motor (not in the box anymore ), landing and taxi lights: A blister with sliding canopy and rear part of the cabin, a blister with small metal parts for undercarriage and engine, optional rubber tyres and other stuff, a clear sprue with the windows and the landing light cover: I have put the detached control surfaces in separate bags, including the wing tips, I did the same with detached undercarriage parts, other small parts etc. The black parts are the interior floor and a holder for the electric motor if you wish to spin the prop: Finally the wing- and fuselage halfs and the small light bulbs. One of the lights is gone, so these won't be used: As an extra I got "mini-me" from my modelling friend Meindert: the Eidai 1/72 version. Don't be surprised if it will sometimes make an appearance in this thread: The plan is to make a Fuji of "Martinair Vliegschool" like the one below: You already see that Martinair used two different versions of the Fuji. The rear one has a different cowling than the forward one. The forward Fuji on the picture has the same cowling as in the kit, so most probably I will model PH-MBK. Also I will not need the wheel spats. I haven't see any pictures of Martinair Fuji's with wheel spats installed. I will start with neatening the control surfaces. They are movable and their leading edges fit nicely into recesses at the trailing edge of wings and tailplanes. The best approach is to finish them in nice white paint before they are attached. It will be fairly easy to mask them when the whole model will be sprayed. I think this way I will avoid nasty paint ridges. To be continued... Cheers, Peter

    Wedding pics!

Some random pics of our wedding and the absolutely STUNNING surroundings we were in........ The wife near the mouth of the lake, with skies so utterly vivid blue it almost looked fake at the time The view outside the courthouse we got our marriage licence in The wife and I right after the ceremony at nature's altar Wife and I at the actual spot we held the ceramony at For some reason I felt the need for a forest version of Captain Morgan On the way home from said ceramony Heading up to the summit of Mt Massive@ 15,000+ Mt Massive Summit Back at the Lake after the ceremony....
