  1. Some really good progress on the G-4 in the last few days and getting close to completion. First up was fitting the landing gear and then the fuel tanks. and then moved on to the MG 151's in the nose and adding the flash suppressors. really happyI glued tubes inside the nose for the gun barrels to slide in and out at will. and then the flame dampers. Also managed to add the internal frame work to the rear canopy hatch. Time to add all of those fragile bits and pieces hanging of this aircraft which there an aweful lot and then finish weathering and as always thank you for your encouragement and comments throughout this build. 2. For those (like me a few years ago) who have only general info about Nieuport XVII here is a list of differences, just in case 1. Late series received reinforced leading edge with metal mini ribs for both wings, but the early version did not have this feature 2. Early series Nieuport XVII had experimental Alkan synchronized lewis Mg, for Late series Vickers became the main armament after Vickers MG production was set up in France and some pilots still used unsynchronized Lewis over the top wing 3. Early Nieuport still carried Nieuport XVI windshield, as Late Nie had its own flat windscreen 4. Late series were painted in a new Aluminum powder paint, but earlier had good old camo in 2 colours (some experts are sure it`s 4 colours, hard to say who is right or wrong) 5. An early version had square maintenance hatch on the starboard side, but Late ones received hatched on both sides with an egg like shape 6. Top wing cutout on the early version, but late Nieuport did not have this feature in most of the cases 7. The oil tank was installed in the cockpit, together with the fuel tank on early Nieuports, but for Late Nieuport, oil tank was moved on to the firewall to have a space for Vickers ammo rack 8. Cowlings differs, first it was in one peace, but later it was replaced with the two-part cowling We are planning to prepare and send all pre-ordered Nieps next week, as we need to proceed with the new orders) And yes, we have several 1/32 projects in development

  9. Hi I'm back after long time. I had to recall what was last. Sorry for so long break. I promise amendment. I read again your last comments and must say thank you. I forgot how nice it is. So return to the project. First, propeller. I reworked padels changing their shape. There were foiled next. head of propeller were totaly scrachbuilt. I decided to create this model almost naked, without skin, but it not allowed me to omit these elements. Before painting Some of them after painting Special place for these parts. First, bottom cover of carburator, vacuformed and cut to shape. Two side covers of the engine with ventilation gaps. It took me month to invent how to do and of witch. I made them from 0.12mm plastic foil and shaped gaps using toothpick. That's all for now. Nice watching. Tomasz

  12. Good evening Gentlemen and ladies if your reading! My apologies for the delay it seems close protection isn’t as quiet as people would let you think! Any way as promised here are some more images of my progress. It’s been a little slow as I only had a 7 day break before being back on task. Threw some primer on the seat and decided I still wasn’t happy with the dimensions so broke out the milliput. Whilst I was at it I had a play with a prototype for the seat cushions. Primed seat Playing with the seat cushion highlighted to me the back was still to short. I’ve also added a set of seat belt harness mounts (white card) The seat after an extension (pre-sanding) With the prototype back rest With some colour before the highlighting just gave it a quick dry brush so the detail came out in the shot. Going to be a bit of trial and error to get the colours how I want them. Here she is in place in the next few shots and one with the nose installed just to start giving an impression on what a beast of a kit it is! And an an old full view mock up. Couldn’t resist! i am home next week so will start the cockpit side consoles and maybe the ip. Have also just realised I have missed the 1/32 b-24 release which may be a good thing as having this in 1/18 and a 1/18 aggressor f-16 disassembled ready for some serious detail I think I may genuinely need a hanger should I find the b-24! Really happy to see such an icon in an impressive scale! Although being a lover of aircraft and 1/32 scale or larger I’d like a kit of every military aircraft on the planet! Any way I hope you enjoy the pics and I’ll get some more up next week of the wings I’ve re-shaped/butchered. Happy modelling! LT

  13. Well folks it has been an interesting week but moving forward. Here is an update on the Hasegawa 1/32 P-40E. This week is all about the radio and the interior. To prep for that I needed to get some initial paint on the cut side and then while I had the airbrush out I sprayed some on the uncut side. After that dried for a couple of days on to the radio. Next up is to continue the interior with more work in the cockpit. As for the radio equipment I am pleased with how it looks. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. Joe

  15. Got the canopy and windshield prep'd, masked and installed. The windshield took a bit of time to get to fit properly. I suggest putting some pressure on it, glue one side (I used Tamiya liquid cement) and once that sets up, do the other side. All the while keeping pressure on it. Tamiya provides masks for the these parts. Not the precut type, I used a new x-acto blade and it took approx 15 minutes to cut them out and install them. They seemed to be a bit on the small side, I cut a few extra strips to fill the voids. No biggie. After that, I completed my painting. A few comments on the paintwork. Originally, Vought had a really nice (and probably very effective three-color camo scheme for the earlier A model Corsair: Pretty nice, right? Only issue was at some point, the Navy/Marines determined that this took a good number of man-hours to apply at the factory. Instead of just eliminating all paint like the Army Air Corp did (not really an option on aircraft exposed to salt water), they simply opted to spray the entire aircraft overall Gloss Sea Blue. I prefer the earlier three color scheme but have to admit that the GSB scheme has grown on me. Just makes the Corsair look more like the industrial strength killer it was meant to be. As mentioned, I used Colorcoat paints. I read up on this color quite a bit and the consensus seems to be that most manufacturer's GSB replicates the post-WW2 shade, which was a bit different (a more-blackish tint I believe). Colorcoats GSB is supposed to be a very good match to the WW2 spec GSB. I like the stuff quite a bit. It sprays extremely well. Only issue is it comes in those damned tinlets which I can't stand. Given the size of this model, I strongly suggest that you go with 3 tins of this stuff. You might make it with two but it will be close. The only other issue is that this paint isn't very glossy. More of a satin sheen which is probably realistic for the real thing after a few months in service but this means I'll have to clearcoat the model. Again, not a big deal, just an observation. Here are a few pics. Note that my camera sucks. The actual color is a nice deep blue, it appears lighter in these pics. Oh well. That's it. Thanks for all the feedback and for looking!

  16. Thanks, one and all. The campaign has now raised over $24,000, and in only 5 days! This is an astonishing community response, and I'm sure Paul will be able to put the money to good use. How far can it go? Given that this amazing amount comes from just 322 people, I'd say quite a bit further! Kev

  17. Natural rubber is whitish, synthetic is a clear-ish yellow., it is not "dyed" to make tires etc black. Carbon Black is added as a re-enforcing compound in tires, belts, hoses etc and is what makes these black. The more that is added the harder the rubber is (at least that the simple explanation but polymers and other additives play a roll also), It also is a key ingredient for wear resistance. It also helps dissipate heat to aid in the life of the component from heat which is what vulcanizes (cures) rubber and continues to cure it over time until it gets hard and brittle as does ozone and sunlight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_black

  18. One small step at a time Padraic! In fact I've spent my limited modelling time today trying to get my head around the installation of the Schrage Muzik set up, and I'm far from sure that I'm there yet! I've taped up all the bits and bobs in position, then put in the cannon which I think is just about OK with its angle, maybe a bit shy but I'm not getting my protractor out to measure 15 deg. I'm a little concerned about the potential fragility of the PE structure but I guess I'll just have to be ultra careful:

  20. I’m aware that they never posted a release date, nor am I expecting any specific schedule. I’m simply saying that until they release it, or at least announce a specific release timeline, it’s vaporware. Used to be, a company announced a kit, and it was out in less than a year because the company usually had the design and production planned out for a release target they made the announcement. What’s the point of some companies announcing a kit years in advance? All it leads to is people constantly asking what’s going on with the kit, with the vague reply “they are working on it”, which could mean almost anything. WNW was working on their Lanc for 8 years supposedly. What value would it have been if they had announced it 8 years ago, instead of now, when they are at least able to provide a release date, and they have CAD as well as physical test buildups to show to people? What does HK have to show for their F-4K? Pretty much nothing other than a listing as a future release TBD and people asking when/whether the kit will be out? Maybe they have much more than that internally, but it’s a secret, and therefore of little value to the modeling community who will be expected to buy the kit. I’ll be honest, I’d be fine if manufacturers stopped announcing future releases if it’s going to be some long term project many years away. I don’t see any advantage to doing that for anyone, not to the company nor to the general modeling population. In some cases in modeling history, it hasn’t worked out because a few companies have gotten undercut by someone else. Announce a kit and then follow up in a few months with test shots or CAD drawings, and then follow through with the release. That seems to be how most of the model manufacturers do it, especially the big ones like Tamiya, Hasegawa, Revell, WNW, Trumpeter, HobbyBoss, etc.

  22. This is the Fujimi kit in 1/72. It's painted in gunze Japanese orange yellow with the Manchukuo roundels masked and painted with my compass cutter. It's not a bad little kit, but some attention needs to be paid to the windscreen which is probably the worst fitting part in the kit, but it scrubs up alright with some elbow grease. It certainly is bright, so I won't lose this on a contest table!

  25. The 190 is a tricky subject. Esp. regarding the fuselage cross sections and the wing geometry. If you closely compare the old series from Eduard (1/48) with the new one, you will find out. Just to copy the plan views will lead to dubious results. For the engines (mentioned it in the old Revel FW 190 thread): If the engine is to scale the cowling will be too big in diameter. If the cowling is to scale the engine will be undersized. Or you compromise on both

    F-15I Ra’am - FINISHED

Ok, let's resume this build. I found it really difficult to do anything on this build while the MH-47G was on the bench, but now that it is done, it's Ra'am time. At this time, I have cut, prepped and glued most of the resin bits in the Isracast conversion. Not a ton of pieces but the quality of the resin is top notch, the instructions are clear enough and with the Isradecal publication on the Ra'am I have enough reference to guide me. This is where I stand today: cockpit pieces are only dry fitted but the resin is glued. Sat-Com antenna tail antenna airscoops on the CFTs flare dispensers on the tailboom. I have also made a start on the ordnance but no pics yet. Next step is to put some color (i.e. Nato black) in the cockpit and detail painting. So far the kit fits really well and I enjoy the change of pace from the MH-47. Cheers, David

  30. Really hopeful for replacement turrets and early/later turret designs from some aftermarket but not sure how certain it is we will see those; not a whole lot of companies doing clear bits these days. Found this was a good page to help identifying different turrets etc for a given B-24: http://www.usaaf-in-cbi.com/Liberator_ID/Lib_Recce_Doc.htm

  31. Here is the end result of the wash: I also got the main bodies assembled and washed: Finally, for tonight's update, I got the base painted. Really this is just the OOB plastic done with some imaginative "gizmology painting". Nothing major really, but just a couple minutes to spruce things up and pick the detail out : For the purposes of my Tie pilot and his wing-man the Bandai bases actually can lock together, which will be cool for a dual Imperial Tie Fighter display, and hopefully make things a bit more stable: All for tonight ladies, catch you when your older!

  35. Damn, Kevin you managed to get here faster than me, thank you) Good evening, Gentlemen, Glad that our 1/32 project got your attention, 9 pages and so many questions) First of all, we have no 5% starting from 2014, and I hope this is a great news, so you do not need to worry that we are charging some extras, this is not the case. I even fixed that info at our website For 1/32 Nieuport kits, the price tag is 62 EUR for none-EU clients (meaning no VAT is applied) and 75.02 for EU clients (as we need to add VAT). As for Scale Models World 2018 - Nieuports were available at out stand, sorry that some of you missed it, here are few shots from our stand.

  36. Sheesh. So it's been about a month without updates. I'm enjoying the armour build, but I'm itching to get back to something with wings. I've been able to finish up the Kubelwagen portion of the diorama. It's out of the box except for the Archer Transfer instrument cluster decal and some lead foil on the convertible top. I used Ammo of Mig's dunkelgelb for the base and Tamiya's olive green and red brown for the camo work. The weathering is mostly Ammo's enamel weathering effects with pigments in a couple places. I've been trying to figure out something to put in the rear seat of the Kubel for the trooper to be inspecting and landed on a "Monuments Men" idea. So on to the pictures. I also have the Staghound ready for a little chipping and further detail painting before it gets weathered. Thanks for looking. Jeff

  40. I personally think another FW-190 is not needed, there are so many available, it’s ridiculous. You can buy more versions of German fighters than anything. There are so many aircraft and helicopters that have never been built in 1/32, they could have picked anything else. Sigh....

  41. What precisely was previously asked for in 1/32 or larger that's not selling? I've been asking for ten years for several "missing" 1960s-1970s Cold War jets that have not seen IM fruition. I won't bore you with a litany of names but one's Swedish and the other Russian. Another is French, has come out, and I've bought three already. The Tamiya Mossie, one, but I'd buy a second if they did an NF.XIX bullnose boxing. A-6, bought. Voodoos in 1/48, bought x 4 as there's nuffin in 1/32. Su-33 in 1/48, ditto - hello Tan Model - bought. Tony

  50. I simply don't understand this way of thinking. I have Special Hobbies Bristol M.1c on the same shelf as I have my Wingnut kits and you can't distinguish which manufacturer has made which kit. Regardless of the fact that WNW has not made an M.1c, the subject interested me and the kit whilst not quite as nice as what WNW would produce still holds its own against them. Are we subject builders or are we manufacturer builders. I really do feel sorry for other manufacturers these days as the modelling community has become a bit blinded to the quality that WNW has afforded us. Yes they have in general raised the standard across the industry but I am tired of hearing about the lack of Triplanes or other subjects from WNW whilst the same and other subjects from different manufactures wither on the vine.
