Lets airbrushing, compresor ON...Go..
All three YAK-3s were painted in similar scheme, light blue undersides and medium and dark gray topsides. Paints were my mix of Revell 77/78/57/ and Humbrol Matt Russian Blue, mixed using paint chips. ![]() Yugoslav one have white wing tips and tailplane top part, ![]() and 3 victory stars under the cockpit, airbrushed using die cut airbrushing masks,airbrushed, ![]() Airbrush mask removed, ![]() Normandei Nieman squadron have white lightning/arrow on both fuselage sides, painted again using die cut airbrushing masks. Mask positioned, ![]() Airbrushed in white, ![]() Mask removed, ![]() And small detail, Normandie Nieman unit Lorraine cross,airbrushed, ![]() More airbrushing will follow, AEROPOXY-Nenad -------------------- |

And final part for tonight,
Yugoslav AF markings were airbrushed using die cut masks, yellow star outline was airbrushed over the blue/white roundell circle, red star will follow tomorrow, after the drying, ![]() and mask removed, ![]() Canopy frames were brush painted, ![]() and special detail, fuel gauge, white with red and green dials and glass sphere cover, simulated by drop of two component epoxy glue, ![]() Three Yak-3s on paintshop production line, ![]() and solo, Normandie Nieman No 14 , ![]() Soviet, yellow 74 ![]() and Yugoslav, white 11, ![]() That's all folks, for tonight, Sweet dreams, RGDS AEROPOXY-Nenad -------------------- |

Hi,
YAK-3 story is almost done, prop shaft was positioned to center the plastic tube, glued in to the fuselage, ![]() Some steel wire was inserted in the undercarriage legs, strenghtening the joint between UC leg and wing , ![]() Final touch ups were made using silver wax pencil, ![]() Next pictures will be photos of finished YAK-3s RGDS, AEROPOXY -------------------- |

Very impressive Nenad. Your Yak-3 has come out astonishingly well. Since Duxford (in the UK) had resatored and now regularly fly their own Yak-3, I am becoming more and more attracted to the performance of this little fighter...it is very impressive to watch. All three models look fantastic. I like the use of viynal masks, they work well. Thank you for sharing this with us.
