wow, i think you may have touched a  nerve or two on that one.........

I think he was speaking facetiously and that maybe you didn't pick up on it.

don't you worry, i didn't mean to "tread on toes" so to speak, just acknowledging his last remark, which holds merit, and indeed "talking" thu computers isn't ideal.......

Barry.... I am a little late in posting but yes I am aware of the historical date and why the Japanese pilots were ordered to Attack Pearl Harbor.

Bring taught History in school and by MY late MOM & DAD has been instilled into ME of tragic dates in our World's history.

One cannot forget this easily...
Many were subjected to cruelty in war all over the world but as WE are talking about Pearl Harbor... LEST WE FORGET them.

And Barry the photo you posted gives ME a chill down the spine as I look closely at the men who are looking down and hoping they survived; and the sailor in the water struggling to get rescued and be safe.

Quite heart distressing to see that.

May those who lost their lives REST IN PEACE. Amen.

SALUTE to them and to the few remaining survivors to whom I owe MY Freedom and peace . Thank you Barry for posting.

Edited to rectify mistake. :sorry:

There are too many days that live in infamy to list. 7 December 1941 was terrible, but the numbers are more elsewhere in history.

First day of the Somme. British forces lost over 19,000 dead. Over 50,000 casualties in total. Add to this French and German casualties.

80,000 lost on one day at The battle of Boridino.

60,000 Roman soldiers lost at Cannae.

The magnitude of losses on any day to the Mongolian hordes. Many victims impaled. Even the pets in a city were slaughtered.

125,000 in Tokyo fire bombings.

Hiroshima from 90,000 to 146,000...

The end is listless.

Humans are pretty scary. :(

December 7, 1941 was the first day that was singled out as "will live in infamy" by the famous speech by Franklin D. Roosevelt, given to the Congress on December 8, 1941.  The phrase was not in the common lexicon before then.

There were pilots whom when their aeroplane was damaged, purposely crashed into targets.

Jennings! :o

Have you not given a single thought to Cicero??? The greatest Latin orator in history???  :crying:

I did.

"Ego sum oblitus."

Cicero.

I find it difficult to isolate historical events. So I lament them all.

Same result. :)

Yes I am sorry for that. Predictive text.. the moment I typed Pearl Harbor (kamikaze popped up and as I was writing in the dark I forgot to delete it.)
I will delete it as I know better. They were not Kamikaze pilots at the Battle of Pearl Harbor.

MY sincerest apologies .
