The Rex was boring me to tears.  But most of all I was greatly inspired by Dannys' (Vandy 1 VX 4) PT 365 conversion.  Found here: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=61120&page=1

Photo intensive.

New flag staff from Albion Alloys brass telescoping tube.  Cap is melted rod.  Light is clear sprue.  New Hatch Dogs.

DSCN6157_zpsq4ooxxuz.jpg

Reworked Smoke Discharger.

DSCN6158_zpssru9biwl.jpg

Reworked Roll-Off Rack.  Right side.  Re-discovered the adhesive qualities of masking fluid.  I used masking fluid as an adhesive to connect the bars and rods of the mechanism.  This held them together while I installed the assembly.  Silver is flattened solder as fasteners.

When everything is glued together I can remove the Pin and fold the Mast down.

Attention!

Cockpit.

DSCN6176_zpsnpohvop0.jpg

Camber notes.  During my research I looked at other builds. One had mentioned a Camber problem, that the curvature of the deck from port to starboard, did not match real PTs.  So I studied the problem and wrote my notes on the deck.  I found no Camber problem.  But that's just me.

DSCN6177_zpsyzp3t2fa.jpg

Helping hand for stability.  Back.

DSCN6178_zpsbhfvnwoh.jpg

Same.  Forward.  Lots of notes.

DSCN6179_zpsr8bem5ih.jpg

New Gunnel (top) and Chine (bottom).

DSCN6180_zpsxmnhwtok.jpg

Sanded the Keel to an almost razor-sharp edge.  It was really dull.

DSCN6181_zps9tgeg7mc.jpg

New Carriage Bolts.

DSCN6184_zpskwykheo3.jpg

Bow.  Italeri gives you a straight Hull/Deck Line.  The PT Hull/Deck Line is an 'S' Curve.  Down at the Bow, Rises to a high point, curves down, then rises toward the Stern.  I used this as a guide to draw my line before i sanded the Line to shape.

DSCN6185_zpsuijpaavs.jpg

More of the same.

DSCN6186_zpsjsqryj01.jpg

It's a long Hull.

More notes.  Numbers are Bulkhead locations.

DSCN6190_zpsluhpukyk.jpg

Lots of preparatory scribbling.

Life Rings.

DSCN6193_zps0wq1qnz8.jpg

Searchlight, with bulb.  Swivels and rotates.

DSCN6194_zpsnfupegaz.jpg

Last but not least.  Life Raft.  My research showed that round cornered rectangular Life Rafts, vs. oval Life Rafts, were made so one could stand inside the Raft.  The floor was attached to a rope fencing that had a circumferential rope at the top which threaded through strap openings to the inside of the Raft.  We'll see.

Thanks for dropping by, looking, and hopefully, liking.

Sincerely,

Mark

Thank you, Kevin, Jeff, Shawn.  I appreciate you stopping by and commenting.

Well, all of the easy stuff for the most part is done.  Now it's time to clean up the basement and get onto the difficult part, painting.

DSCN6195_zpsgrluq9qy.jpg

Used Masking Fluid as a temporary adhesive.  A little over zealous, I suppose.  Lots of micro detail.  Short tube is 1.5mm.  Fasteners are flattened solder.

DSCN6196_zpsodraieif.jpg

Bringing out the Big Gun!  Found an on-line Tech Manual and used that to make a few details.

DSCN6199_zpspk1deajw.jpg

DSCN6200_zpsdccgfqnr.jpg

Engine Room Vent Housing.  Cut out the window opening.  Shaped some styrene rod and vac-u-formed it with clear sheet, inserting it from the back.  Large opening will have a screen on it.  I just have to find it.

DSCN6201_zpslh7mehja.jpg

Other side.

DSCN6202_zpss9xlbgkp.jpg

Bringing out the Little Guns!  The other looks the same.  I found 4 different types of flash suppressors on the boats.  I chose this one because it was the easiest to make.  Trigger handles toward the back top are not accurate.  I didn't particularly want to mess with making something that small and complicated so I made this instead.

DSCN6203_zpsjlblh65r.jpg

Other side.  Spent shell box.

DSCN6204_zpsk1ycuzq9.jpg

Threaded monofilament as rope

DSCN6205_zpsp6dygpym.jpg

I didn't like the first rendition of the trigger and handle so I re-did it.

DSCN6206_zpsv3c4lqhp.jpg

Did the same for the recoil under the barrel.

A few more below.

Turned the running lights from 1/8 inch acrylic.

DSCN6208_zpsjlw3jziq.jpg

Managed to figure out how to make the fencing for the raft and attach it without swearing.  Made new paddles, removed the water container from the kit part.

DSCN6209_zpsmiotj00g.jpg

Blue Running Light.

DSCN6210_zpsw8rbksvk.jpg

Clear Running Light.

Anchor.

DSCN6212_zps2dw7fgho.jpg

Barely able to get an overall picture.

Well, what's done is done.  Time to clean up before I ruin it with paint.

Thank you for looking in and liking.

Sincerely,

Mark
