Taking a break from some "therapeutic" resin builds and conversions I decided to go smaller scale with this Mossie.  Will build as PR variant.  Current WIP's SH Tempest Mk.V, TAM A6M2b and TRU P40B tucked away while I tackle this project.

Engine nacelles tricked up with some Eduard PE and strategically placed styrene to hide ejector marks.

PE fenders truly make a difference from the chunky kit fenders.

Alclad alumnimum and some wash detail added.

Does that fit the SH kit or just PCM?

Chris,

Eduard recommends for Tamiya kit.  I cannot see why it would not work on other 1:48 Mossies.  Even if a little tweaking required.

Instead of using decals for the inside canopy frame I opted for a different solution.

Mossie_CanopyFrame.02.jpg

After making a form out of MilliPut from an extra canopy I used .30 rod to construct inside canopy frame.  After spot glue I took a hair dryer to form the rod.

Trimmed and painted.  Sorry for crummy out of focus image.

I lost a bunch of images from the interior.  Dammit! This is best I have.

Fuselage buttoned up.

Mossie_FuselaheButtonUp.jpg

Canopy happiness.

Mossie_Nose_Cut.jpg

Nothing says happiness & glee more that the joy of cutting out a vacuform canopy.  After lessons from a near disaterious cut on the cockpit canopy I had much better results with the vacuform nose glazing.

Mossie_CanopyMask.02.jpg

Interior canopy frame added to Vacuform canopy then secured and masked.  I added some wiring/plumbing inside the cockpit and again I lost the images.  default_angry.png  Trust me they're there.  I had a ton of fit issues and I have plenty of angst hoping the final results will be ok.  Inside framing scratchbuilt, suspect fit of main canopy...what could possibly go wrong?

Mossie_CanopyMask.01.jpg

Mossie_CanopyMask.03.jpg

Masking complete.  Initial coat of interior green.  Tamiya 1:32 Mossie called for XF-71 for interior.  I used the same color for the 1:48 build.  Perhaps not the best color selection, should have used MRP RAF interior green.  I'll have to live with this.

Man I just love all the details that Tamiya puts in their builds! I've never seen anybody make a frame work like you've made here. Neat idea.
