Howdy folks,

I'm pleased to announce and present our new logo:

logo_final.jpg

The design is by our own Iain Ogilvie, so all credit and thanks goes to him. Rather than introduce something completely new and unfamiliar, we decided to modernise the salient features of the old logo, keeping the basic design ideas, but updating them to a cleaner, more modern style. So, it's evolution, rather than revolution.

I've already added it to the forum banner, but adding to the main website will take quite a bit more time and work.

We hope you like it!

Kev

Why ? I liked the old one with fine lines and yellow/blue moody background, reminding me about the classy HS prop logo.

Lots of reasons, Martin, including not having access to a high-resolution version (or any kind of source file at all), and most of us on staff feeling that the old one had passed its use-by date. There are other reasons too, but I'd rather celebrate the launch of the new one than denigrate the old one.

It looks very good and more up to date. Thanks Iain !

There is a prop and some turbo fans in the logo, so everybody's happy ! (except the "rocket only" ayatollahs :) )

FINALLY!  Yayyy!

This may come as a surprise to members, but staff have been bantering this around for over a year, actually I think about three years now????

Iain has done a fabulous job here and exerted, in my opinion, great patients with staff in dealing with all our opinions.  We have enough logo ideas in the background to sink a small pleasure boat :D

Thanks Iain,  it looks great.

Agreed, Ron, lots of back and forth, fine tuning, and Iain was very gracious about it all, creating a design that will hopefully hold out for quite a while to come.

It will take getting used to! Thanks Iain, it looks nice - I guess I am getting older as I prefered the older version!! Change is inevitable I guess!! Just surprised there was no membership vote...
In a few days we'll all begin to identify with the new mascot!
Cheers

It's very beautiful and stylized! Now I notice that the pattern in the center symbolizes jet engine. And I remember that once I wondered what that picture means more exactly in the old logo. :)

It's a very well thought out, clever and well executed design, a definite improvement over its predecessor in my opinion. Well done Iain.
