Dpgsbody55
Here is my Trumpeter Mig 3 which I finished back in late March. I'd have presented it sooner, but I'm currently busy with non- modelling stuff and an HKM Meteor 4. More of that one at another time. The model was built using an Eduard cockpit detail set, and an exterior masking set by a company who's name escapes me now. Apologies for that as it worked well. I also scrapped the kit cockpit and made my own using 1.2mm rod, the Eduard detail set, and the remainder was cut from the kit plus some further wiring by me. Unfortunately, I got so carried away making this I forgot to take any pictures until it was well underway. The floor was made with 0.6mm sheet plastic stock onto which were added the Eduard details and the stock kit control column and rudder pedals. The wing needed some "adjustment" to get it in place, but my butchery can't be seen once it's all in place. Overall this was a nice kit and I enjoyed building it. In fact, I'd say it was the nicest Trumpeter kit I've built so far. Alas I've learned a lesson in that I need to research my modelling subjects more completely before I start as I found a picture of my subject during the paint process that revealed that “my†plane carried no radio or radio mast. Oh well........ Cheers, Michael Edited October 7, 2017 by Dpgsbody55 dutik, Dany Boy, Tony T and 4 others
LSP_Kevin
Cool build, Michael! Seems a pretty popular subject, this one. Kev
DougN
Nice looking MiG! I also think it's one of the nicest building Trumpeter kits. Doug
Dpgsbody55
I suspect that the reasons this is a popular subject is that it's a bit different from the usual array of offerings of WW2 fighters, and the kit is well done. My feeling is that there's a market for good injection mold plastic kits in 1/32 scale for such subjects as the Russian and Italian planes of that era too, but manufacturers may be reluctant to manufacture them as it's unknown territory from a marketing perspective. But just look at the success of HKM with their Meteor and DO335 or the Wingnut kits for the WW1 buffs. With luck, this company may fill this gap in the market. I'm also looking forward to the upcoming Tempest too. One of these will go into my stash!! Dpgsbody55
Thought I'd resurrect this build as it has a scratch built cockpit that some may still want to see. It was one of the many builds ruined by the Great PB Rip-off. They shall not succeed with their evil plans!! I will probably also re-do my Meteor build, to resurrect the engine build shots in case anyone wants them again. I do have other pics of this build, if anyone would like me to add them.
