Honestly, we can swap opinions here and debate theory about the value of a modeller's time all we want....

The question is, will that model sell at all, and if so will it fetch anything near the amount asked for it? I say no as a general rule, but there is always the off-chance the rare sort of buyer who just has money lying around and doesn't fully understand what he is buying. But is there a significant market for completed plastic model kits in the $6K-$8K range? I say no again....

Other than a significant amount of jealousy (as also clearly indicated by comments such as "the model is not even that good"), I cannot see the reason for such hatred and bile. He has customers. Do you? You say you can do better. Care to prove it?
Are you going to tell me that if anyone said "here is $6000 for your model", you would say "Oh no, you gave me $5500 too much, here is your money back". Doubt it!
As I already said before, if you can build a better model and sell it for less, what stops you? But the obvious question is this: if you can get a good price for your work, what kind of moron are you to take less? Spare me the left-wing commie guff about "greed" and "fairness" - I know trade-unionised unskilled workers that get a bigger hourly pay than this model builder.
