Now that the HKM 1/32 B-25 has been out for going on three weeks, and we are mostly in agreement that it takes modeling to a whole new level, what additional aftermarket do you feel you need in order to upgrade this kit from merely outstanding to nearly perfect? That's in addition to the Profimodeller PE for the gunner's stations, G-Factor gear and AMS resin crankcase and props. Personally, I'm wishing for a PE instrument panel for the cockpit, pilot and copilot seats with a bit more detail, along with seveal seat variations, and resin wheels with a corrected tread pattern. More decal options would be nice, too. Maybe if we all speak out together, the aftermarketers (many of whom are participants and followers of these forums) will take note and oblige our wishes.

I suppose Eduard will take care of the PE side of things , I dread to think how many sets they'll produce for the kit, Wheels ok , but for me , I'd like to see some work platforms , and possible an engine hoist/lifting frame - and perhaps the ability to display one for the engines in the process of being changed, firewall details etc ..

Eduard stated the other day on The Plastic Modelling Hour show, that they were waiting for their kit to arrive and that they do have PE sets planned for it.

Profimodeller have two different gun sets with perforated jackets. They have different lengths and barrel ends, and frankly I'm not sure which ones to use for which plane. The instructions posted are not very clear, but the guns look pretty fine. Master barrels all are the same length, which may be OK as well, given how far they back up into the fuselage, etc.

Any ideas to clear that up?

I am certain we will see a vast number of aftermarket parts for this kit. It offers the most potential to go completely insane on detail that we have seen for a long time. I'm still on the side of the pool waiting to see where to swim, but the water looks pretty fine.

Hmmmm must have been some super cool dude that asked that question...............

FOR SURE need AM wheels for this thing after looking at the OOB one. The OOB wheels are ok, but the tread pattern is a bit too spaced out, and it doesnt go down on the sidewalls a bit like the real deal. Not to mention the fact that cleaning out that seam down the center is going to be a PITA, and a set of AM resin wheels will take care of that pronto.

I would like to see some ground crew figures along with some maintenance stands. I am sure Verlinden will be coming out with a bunch of stuff.

The only thing I can see different is Set A has muzzle flash suppressors, where Set B doesn't

Tamiya makes several things in 1:35th scale....(close enough for government work)....mostly german items, but still useful.....barrels; ladder; work table, etc....scored quite a few of these, & others, for the diorama.

Resin wheels would be nice, but not waiting on them.....
Stencil decals....
Armor backrest....made my own.....will post thread in 'Tips" later.....
Ground crew/flight crew figures.....

This being said, its' still a heckuva kit OOB....

Happy modeling,
Jim

I do not see anything wrong with the wheels and tires as they are. The wheels are correct and are multple pieces with the interior pieces and brake parts and the tires are weighted slightly on the bottom and they actually have the correct tire tread on them. I think they are some of the best wheels and tires out of the box in any kit to date. I would be interested to know what you would like to see different in casted wheels or is it just that no one likes the idea of sanding the seam on the tires? I really do not know how they could be improved on.

Props. Props, props, a hundred times props! And an aside, why are they often the one feature most often pooched on a kit? Not just subtleties like twist, but basic plan form and diameter.

The props and engine casings and prop govenors have been mastered by Harold from AMS resin. They are available from Sprue Brothers.

How 'bout a canopy masking set?....I have a couple on back-order through Hannant's, but no telling when they'll be in stock & shipped.
Hoping Eduard is working on this & there'll be a US distributor......;)
