Hi - I thought it would be a nice idea to start a list of hard to find items. Buying and Selling is extremely popular on eBay, personally I LOVE trying to sniff out a bargain or sell something for a profit. What are the hardest kits, books or aftermarket items to find? We could also list items we've seen go for silly money...I'll go first:

hard to find:

Paragon Avro Manchester conversion 1/48
Paragon Avro Lincoln conversion 1/48
Monogram Monarch series 'Arado 234' book

fetches silly money:

Frog Bloodhound Missile 1/24 - an example went recently for £1,600 on eBay!

1/32 Moskit exhausts.

Anytime the Mustang set comes up it goes for very silly amounts.

We'll stay with the 1/32 stuff:
Moskit exhuasts
Monogram "close-up"
....any 2-3 books one needs to complete their collection; Ballantines Illustrated History of the violent Century comes to mind, as does specific volumes of the Jagdwaffe series.

in progress:
1/35 Su-85/ winter- attach to base
1/32 DH-9a USMC
1/32 Mig-3:winter paint and weathering: in progress and base
Yacht America need some parts.
NEXT UP: Me-109G2/R6-on hold
I'm so far behind, I think I'm in first place...
Yes, I built models when I was a kid too.... no they're not toys....

cool pics mike - I'd also add:

-Japanese Cockpit Interiors volumes 1 and 2 in the Monogram 'close up' series, and the hardback book of the same name which I believe was an amalgamation of those two volumes
-Japanese Aircraft Equipment - Monogram Publications
-German Cockpit Interiors - another Monogram Publications book
-Focke Wulf Doras of the Galland Circus by Jerry Crandall

First two volumes produced by Classic. That's the JV 44 book (which I saw Roy managed to pick up at Telford) and the Hs 129 book. I've all the others, but those two are like hens' teeth. Also the Monogram hardbacks on Jet aircraft of the Third Reich and the one on V weapons. Never actually seen either, only know they exist from adverts in other Monogram publications.

Yep, you're right: here are the prices at which Mikesh's hardback entitled Japanese Aircraft Interiors and Martin Pegg's Hs 129: Panzerjäger! are being offered on AddALL.com, for example. Some volumes in the Putnam Aeronautical series -- e.g., Miles Aircraft since 1925 -- can be astoundingly expensive as well.

So, my 2 "cockpits" books are worth a bunch. Another I don't want to have to replace is: Wenn alle bruder schwiegen II paid 54$ for it back in 87 or so. As we get the occasional 2500 acre brushfires around here, I have a plan that involves packing up some books and things, just in case.

How about this? I believe it's a tough one to find?

1/32 PB Defiant- Scratch Builders

Indeed. That kit is too rare for "market price" to be meaningful, but I've personally seen it sell -- not to or by me! -- for US$300 on eBay. The second (improved) version of Scratchbuilders' Me 410 kit also is rare and valuable, but not as much as the Defiant, for some reason.

Hmmm :hmmm: Make one wonder if it should ever go on the "to build" list or stay as a collector item?

I know you're just wondering out loud Ron, but were the question directed at me, I'd answer with a resounding "build it!"

I'm backing Kev on this one. I have a Revell Raiden that I intend to start early in 2012; of course it has to be finished before 12/21/12! :coolio:
