This was a long build taking nearly 7 months. Any of you who have built this kit know the amount of work required. I used the kit decals and the Flightpath Harrier set which is superb. Lots of scratchbuilding and rivet filling! References were the SAM Publications Modellers datafile number 11 and the build in there by Nick Greenall which is one of the best models I have ever seen - period!
The aircraft shows two SkyHawk "kills" from the 8th June 1982 when piloted by Flt Lt Dave Morgan using AIM-9's. This aircraft was "on the ramp" of H.M.S Hermes on return to Portsmouth and was carrying the green fuel tank probably borrowed from one of the RAF Harriers. Hope you like it!

Forward "cold" nozzles. Mesh used for APU intake

Rear "hot" nozzles and heat shield, Alcad jet exhaust and Tamiya blue weathering from set D. Scratchbuilt shield mountings.

Scratchbuilt airbrake bay.

Cockpit using mix of kit decals and flightpath brass.

Scratched detail to centre pylon, panels and swaybraces. Scratched panels to belly.

Painted over squadron emblems. This was done by hand en route to the islands to reduce the visibility of the scheme.

Scratchbuilt RCV exhaust, mesh vents and rear ID lights.

FINALLY!!
Flightpath Sidewinder, all pylons re-built with correct profiles, scratchbuilt swaybraces.

Metal Flightpath nosegear (this is how to produce aftermarket metal legs!) Scratchbuilt brake lines, lenses and rear undercarriage door.

Haven't got round to putting this on yet!(Kit in itself!) Scratchbuilt wingtip RCV, lights from sprue.

Took this whilst WIP. You can see the amount of filler especially forward of the tail where there was a HUGE step. The engine cover is part of the FRS1 sprue but when on the old kit body it sinks into the fuselage. Used 5thou card to re-define the edges. Had to use ca as I find ordinary plastic glue melts 5 thou as its so thin. Cut outs for wingtip lights and RCV exhausts. Lots of filler behind cockpit also.

What a beautiful build! I love the Sea Harrier, and you have done an exceptional job on yours. Talk about motivation to build the one in my stash! Superb!

You are right about the metal nose gear. The Flightpath gear was superb out of the box requiring very little clean up unlike the amorphous blobs you get from some aftermarket companies!
