Well Ive had this Fisher Model and Pattern 1/32 September Fury done for a while (very happy with the way she turned out), and Ive had couple requests to post some pics so here goes...

I used pretty much all Model Master enamel one her with the OOB Silk decals from Pauls kit. I do find that acrylics have thier place for my build style, like great for exhaust and weathering and what-not, but I really like using the Model Master enamel and find it (for me any way) goes on way easier, smother, and is much more durable than a lot of the acrylics. I also used my own mix of color (as close of a match as I could) for the interior as well as the yellow-ish primer color on the wings, per Pauls suggested mix, along with all the documentation of those colors I could find.

She was finished off with a coat of overall coat of Model Master topcoat high gloss clear coat. I dont usually use high gloss anything on airplanes, but if you have ever seen the REAL September Fury up close, then you know she is glossier (at least on the fuse and tail sections..as the wings were left in semi-gloss/flat after the horner tip wing was installed) than any WWII vintage aircraft ever was, even from the factory.

The interior is OOB from the kit, with the exception of adding some PE paper instrument decals, with a drop of future in each of the instrument bezels for the glass effect, along with some of my own detail touches to the seat belts I found while paroozing the documentation photos

I used stainless steal hypodermic tubing AKA "Hypotube S" from Small Parts Inc. for the hydraulic cylinders on the main gear, gear doors and pilot tube.

I used Renalds Wrap kitchen foil cut in strips for the aero-tape on the wings, as well as polished kitchen foil for the oil cooler ring around the cowl, as well as the edges of the exhaust panels.

I used kitchen foil treated with a mixture of bleach, lead shot and pennies on the panels behind the exhaust stacks, to get the rainbow heat effect characteristic of the furys. No real weathering was done on the bird as anyone who has ever been to the Reno Air Races knows how utterly immaculate these birds were kept.

Paul makes some of the most spectacular kits around for ANY price im my book. Paul & Susy Fisher are also two of the nicest most accommodating people on the planet as well...........so if you EVER have a desire to build any of Pauls kits, but were put off by the $200.00 price tags.....DONT BE. They are worth the money without question, and anyone who appreciates fine large scales models will find any of Pauls kits, some of the best kits available.......in any scale and in ANY medium.

Thanks for looking and hope you like her.........

What a beauty! You did a wonderful job on Paul´s kit. I did the Sea Fury some time ago and wished i had the economics to get one of these racers, too.

An awesome built and great pictures. Love the colours sparkle in the sun! ;)

Thomas

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

Ive still got Pauls Fb.11 to build yet..........hopefully I can take some reference off of Tiggers beutiful build that appears on Pauls site. Not sure I can quite duplicate Johns handy work but even though Paul stopped delivering the fb.11 kits with the decal set John used, I did manage to pick up Hobbycraft's 1/32 fb.11 so I snagged the decals out of that and will def proceed to build Pauls version at some point........

Cheers,
Brian

Excellent job on this build! I have this model in my stash and I am planning on starting it next....

Any advice? I am a little intimidated by the decals. The instructions said that they won't really respond to setting solution unless you can get it under the decal (due to the silk screen decals I guess), but how the heck can you get it under the decal? Did you have any problems getting the decals on?

The assembly looks pretty straighfoward, and I have already built a Fisher Sea Fury, so it is mainly the decals that concern me.

Thanks!

Thanks Bryan! No no real issues with the decals other than they ARE right.........beautiful silkscreen decals but QUITE thick. I didnt really have to use much decal set to be honest, as there really were not that many compound curves, nor panel lines to be quite honest.

Also the white on the decals does come through a bit pink with all the red underneath it. I actually used some frisket film after the decals were on, and then laid the film on and lightly sprayed on some white to get the whit true white.

I also recommend a really resilient super glossy clear coat over everything to simulate the immaculate condition of the 1:1 fury.

I used Model Master high gloss lacquer clear over Model master enamel paints. The lacquer clear dried SUPER glossy and SUPER quick....especially if you put it on with a dual action air brush, but I used a rattlecan of the stuff on Sep Fury

Couldn't remember how I missed this one then I saw you posted it on my B/day so that explains it.
Stellar result my friend!
Looks like she's coming straight out of the fires of hell with old Nick himself at the controls!
