Finally finished the cockpit and engine. I lost my set of Eduardcolor seatbelts, so I robbed my CMK Hellcat cockpit set's belts and painted them white at first, but I didn't like the way it looked, so I painted them MM armor sand with a touch of white, and it looks so much better!

Here's the engine:

I love building these engines; I think I'm getting better at it every time I build another.

How does this look? Is there something I can add before I seal up the fuselage?

Hey Granger...

How goes the build? Any news for us?

Dave,
Thanks for asking! Between my new daughter and work and trying to finish painting the house we just moved into, I haven't been able to devote much time to this bird. I did, however, work on it this weekend, putting the horizontal stabilizers and the rudder on, and I am going to work on the wings this week. I'll try to get some progress pics uploaded in the next day or two!

With regard to the color scheme I'm going to use, I'm torn between the "traditional" early Pacific Theater scheme, and an Atlantic gray over white scheme, which I have always found very striking. If only I can scrounge up some decals!

By the way, does anyone have some goodreference pics of the wildcat brake lines? I searched the net, but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance for any help!

Matt, thanks for the link with the pics; they have really helped!

After reading build articles on Hyperscale, Modeling Madness and LSP, I decided not to put the wing fold parts on the wings, opting instead to just sort of reinforce them with various sprue scraps; it isn't pretty, but nobody is ever going to see it, and best of all, it works.

Sorry the pics have been sparse lately, again, I've been extremely busy!!!

Oh, I also sealed up the fuselage, although I do have a few more seams to cover up.

Almost ready to mate the wings to the fuselage; anyone know the specific color for the flaps? I was thinking interior green, but then it could be Bronze green or zinc chromate. Any suggestions?
