Want it to end up looking a bit like this;

Or maybe like this;

I am going to mess with it a bit using sheet styrene and some spares but I will try to keep as much of the old kit as possible.
The only after-market addition will be some Roodecals.

Here are some closeups of some of the extra work I did last night (Kidding)
The first shot is of the kit tail wheel which I have turned a little in the Dremel.
The other shots show the addition of plastic to various kit parts, some spare Hellcat rims and a few improvements to the P&W engine.
The last pic shows the beginings of the scratch built cockpit... I will be keeping the stick- everything else goes! ( You want the original pit Larry?)
The additions will be kept reasonably simple and I will try to include only the items that will be seen. This saves a little time and does not detract from the end result.
It's still going to be hard work.

Good luck guys!

This looks like a start of a great looking kit, I'll really have to keep an eye on this one.

Cheers Murph...

Cheers Larry.
Looks like the P-40 will be just as bad but there is not enough time to start THAT now. It's all practice for the upcoming Vacs. I will need your help with those.

Although I will never reach the standard of you guys, it's still a heap of fun.

Should be able to post some of the initial interior shots tomorrow... girlfriend thinks I'm stressing.

Keith Allott.

In a bit of a quandary over what colour to paint inside the cowl. My sources suggest either Salmon, Black or interior green. I should probably do it in black.

Who is the corsair expert here?

The inside of the cowl:

Looks Great.
Makes me a little nervous about even joining in, given the quality of scratchbuilding about!
Aero detail 25 has the inside of the cowl of the FG 1D appearing to match the external colour, ie blue. The same reference has an F4U-5N with the inside of the cooling flaps looking almost fire engine red. I'm no expert on Corsairs, I hasten to add.
Anyway, keep it up. Inspiring.

Beginnings of the new cockpit. Changed my mind about keeping the kit control stick.

I'm not sure the other blokes are gonna bother with all this fiddling about, although some of them are definitely crazy enough!

Go to it though. Better than watching telly.
