Maurice
Here some weathering, post shading with a mix of red brown and flat black. Masking off to paint faded fabric surfaces. Guest Peterpools
Maurice Way to go, the weathering surely has that south pacific worn and sun beaten look Keep 'em comoing Peter
Maurice
Thank you Peter, yet more weathering to come such as diluted desert yellow around the fuel leaks in front of the windscreen. Here in more advancement though I think I faded a bit more than expected on the fabric surfaces. Gazzas and SapperSix

Maurice
Thank you Quang, glad to see you convinced, one is always feeling like there is something more that I could do to make it better. At this stage I applied a very thin coat, building up progressively, of XF-60 dark yellow, trying to replicate the typical stain due to fuel leakage. I think I'm ready for decals after that more weathering on top of the markings and paint chiping. Joel_W
Guest Peterpools
Maurice The yellow fading leaking by the oil tank looks great and I do agree that the fading on the fabric portion of the wings seems a bit light on my end. Keep 'em coming Peter

Keep 'em coming Peter Thank you Peter for confirming, I just sprayed a very thin coat of darker blue on that area. Gazzas
David Hansen
Looks better. I recommend painting the 1" wide black walkway stripes, instead of using the kit decals. Don't forget to mask off and paint the fabric-covered elevators as well. FWIW, the ailerons were plywood, over a metal frame, but they were covered in fabric, so they also tended to fade and lighten up. -d- Maurice
Maurice
Thank you David, it's noted will do that after decaling. Thank you for your advise. Cheers
Maurice
Main decals in place, weathering on top to make it look accordingly later on. Edited July 23, 2017 by Maurice Gazzas
Joel_W
Maurice, Don't know how I missed your Corsair build thread , as I just read through it. Your painting is excellent with so many multiple layers to create your weather the finish. I'm going to have to borrow your gas staining technique as it really looks authentic. Maurice
Thank you Joel, much appreciated, painting is the fun part for me. Nothing new under the sun, I borrowed the technique from Chris Wauchop, great reference and my favorite modeller. Here having fun cutting the strips to the right length in front of the windscreen. Maurice
Some more advancement with a oil wash, matt coat and a very thin coat of XF-57 to give that dusty appearance. Then I'll paint nav lights and add landing gear and pitot. I might add some extra dirt to the markings. And I'm already thinking about my next project which will be an LSP for sure. I have a couple of unconcluded projects in the forum but I think I'm in the mood to do a desertic Spitfire MkIXc in unusual markings. Hope I can find the charger of the battery of my camera Cheers Edited July 25, 2017 by Maurice SapperSix, KUROK and David Hansen
