monthebiff
My first build of 2017 and I have finally decided to take the plunge and have a go at a WnW kit and see what everybody raves about as well as learning some new modelling skills along the way!! I have decided to start simple with something with very, very little rigging and go from there. Looking forward to this one and can't wait to get cracking. Regards. mpk
That aeroplane reminds me of the platypus. Should be a great build. monthebiff

monthebiff
My first go at replicating wood grain effect, initially thought about trying decals but decided trying to master oils would be a much better route to go down. First sprayed Tamiya dark yellow followed by a mix of raw umber, burnt sienna and Vandyke brown oils, I allowed this to dry 24 hours in the boiler cupboard and then sprayed a coat of Tamiya clear orange over to seal the oils before going any further. Now I know the more experienced WnW builders modulate the colors a little more between various panels but for my first attempt I decided to keep it simple!! i'm reasonably happy and learn't so much doing this. Any comments/ criticism on my efforts would be gratefully received on my efforts. Regards. Andy Whitey, MikeMaben, 109 and 7 others

monthebiff
All I can say is brilliant start Andy! Iain Thank you Iain, so far really enjoying this one and lots to learn. WnW really do put together a superb production and the quality of the plastic is very Tamiya like!! Regards. Andy
monthebiff
The nice postman delivered my update sets for this build today which s the HGW set for the W.29 and Master barrel's which look amazing!! Now, I really like adding a few extras in a build or modifying the base kit into another version and i really like HGW sets and ordered this without a moments thought. However I am somewhat disappointed now I have received it........not sure why they have supplied some lozenze in place of wood decal as I was interested to try on a test piece. The exterior set is really nice, the belts are as always fantastic, not yet worked out how much I will use of the engine set. I will have a play with the instrument panel and see if it looks better than my bad beginners oil paint wood grain effect! Slowly working on painting cockpit stuff and also getting the wings together and filling any gaps etc, When I ordered this kit my first thought was It will be fun putting a small (first WnW) WW1 aircraft together........... Erm.....how wrong was I, its getting close to the same wingspan as my recent HpH Ta-154 Mosquito build. Made some good progress today and hopefully have some parts coming together over the weekend to have something to show for my efforts but so far I love Wingnut Wings kits and should have taken the plunge along time ago. Guest Peterpools
Andy Great start on the W.29 and your woodwork looks very convincing. I am assuming (fingers crossed) HGW set does contain wood decals fr the instrument panel. Are you considering using them or going with your own woodwork which looks excellent? Keep 'em coming Peter

Keep 'em coming Peter Peter, HGW supply two shades of wood decal for the instrument panel but I am sticking with my own woodwork as I would like to try and perfect this technique, however I do have a W.12 in the stash which I hope I can use these on in the future.
