Hello and thanks in advance for the Help :help:

Since the new Mig 29UB came out with the tow bar and boarding lander included. I like to build it on a tarmac with the tow bar. I all ready ordered from North Star wheels and wheel chocks for the Mig 29. Now to my question. What have you folks used for your Russian Tarmacs?

I found these items, What are your thoughts?  https://www.ebay.com...esAAOSwDkVaKNm5

A section of cheap gypsum wall sheet is a solution to depict concrete parking zones. If present, remove the paper sheet with hot water or a steam iron. Glue the other side (with contact glue) on a wood plank. Scribe the seams and possibly add cracks. Then, paint, weather and add fuel oil spills. Finally, fill the engraved lines with black acrylic gel paint in a large syringe to simulate the tar seams. And you get an airfield micro area!

Since the 1970s, the precast PAG-type (PAG-14/PAG-18) prestressed concrete slabs have superseded the old unreinforced hexagonal type.

PAG-14/18:

PAG-14 dimensions:

Prior to sealing the joints, the lifting loops of adjacent PAG slabs are welded together in order to safeguard proper slab alignment:

You could cut the slabs from cardboard or construction paper and glue them on a plywood base.

Apply one or two coats of wall paint primer to seal the surface, paint the slabs, fill the joints with black acrylic gel.

Weathering according to taste, et voilà!

For people who have used the pre-printed "poster" type bases, like the one in the second link, how do they look?  I have always felt like for a diorama, some three-dimensionality really helps with the realism, but admittedly I've never used one of the printed ones.

I use artists' mounting board, scribed into appropriate shaped panels and covered in very find grade sand. Attach with dilute PVA glue, spray grey, weather et voila!

in my opinion, no pre-printed base will ever do the job. It looks like what it is - printed card
