boness
I have been hangin out here for a while now, and have seen many of the rippers cutaways that he has posted. excellent work by the way. This got me to thinking, where to take this hobby next, i have used A.M. stuff, built OOB, and currently am scratchbuilding alot more than I thought I ever would. I must atribute the urge and most of what I learned to the people at this site. I figured the next logicle step was to do a cutaway. At the first of the year I built a Camel that went well, and I was some what pleased with, so I figured what the hell, and my lovely wife bought me these for my birthday..... The first is Airfixs' 1/24 Harrier Gr 3, The second has cutaway drawing from WWI to modern day, and is an excellent book (just ask my three year old, he looks at it all the time ). boness
So everyone is probubly wandering if I have made any progress.....here it is... I still need to build the exposed fans, but I think I will start those tomorow. I have this engineered so the styrene rod slides out so the fan assemblys can be put on and will turn when complete. all comments encouraged, especially from the ripper , and any advice will be helpfull. .....any one know what colors the guts of a pegusus are?????? jim
Edgar Brooks
Can't help with the Pegasus, although the Harrier SIG, in IPMS UK would, probably, be able to help. If you're doing the GR3, I have full cockpit, wheel wells, and air brake shots, plus, if you don't want to put that black cover, over the front lens, I have a photo of the laser designator. Derek B
Hi Jim, Congratulations for taking onr the task of a 'Ripper' type build...it takes some courage. The majority of the inside guts of a Pegasus (and most other jet engines) tends to be various shades of stainless steel and titainium colours. Anything from dark grey to bright aluminium (not really chrome silver) would cover most of your needs. HTH Derek So everyone is probubly wandering if I have made any progress.....here it is... boness
Thanks for the offer Edgar, I will probubly need them when I get that far. I have noticed that there is a lack of books on the Harrier. Thanks for the info Derek, the ony pics I have found of the guts are for a display for teaching mechanics how to work on em, and its painted blue and red ....not too acurate. The funny thing is Ironwing, I do stuff like this so I dont need a perscription and thanks for the compliment. jim
