D.B. Andrus
I'm looking for the main landing gear oleo full-scale diameter. Am working on 1/32 models of the Revell FW 190F-8 and Hasegawa FW 190A-8 and each kit has different diameter oleos. The Revell oleo is substantially smaller. Any assistance is appreciated.Thanks,D.B. Out2gtcha
I saw that too and wondered myself..................but when the G-Factor white brass legs showed up for it, the oleo struts were SO pretty (and much thicker looking than the Revell ones) and were SO easy easy to just polish to a high mirror shine I just had to use them. stevegallacci
Looks like the actual telescoping section is about 7cm in diameter D.B. Andrus

Jerry Crandall
The correct landing gear leg for the Fw 190 A-8 or F-8 is the one on the right. This diagram that is posted is from my Fw 190 Dora book. Vol. 2 page 202 and 203. More on 204 and 205. Cheers, Jerry Hardcore, D.B. RBrown
Looks like the actual telescoping section is about 7cm in diameter With some casual measurements taken from a printed copy at 1.5X it get 7.6 cm for the lower telescoping section. Slightly less than 2.4 mm in 1/32 scale, as a rough estimate. D.B. Andrus
RBrown
They had rubber gaiters over them... Lots of period photos of later models w/o the gaiters, perhaps they were dispensed with at some point?
Jerry Crandall
Just went out to measure our Fw 190 landing gear leg, and the diameter of the oleo strut is 7 cm Jerry D.B. Andrus, Vandy 1 VX 4 and RBrown
Jerry Crandall
The rubber boots were normally dropped when they went to the thicker leg about the A-5. Jerry D.B. Andrus, Rick Griewski and RBrown

stevegallacci
Thanks, Jerry, really appreciate it. Steve, you were on the button. Cheers, D.B. There is a simple trick to that. Providing the drawing is accurate (some may have good numbers but poor proportions) find a dimensioned element and compare it with the detail in question. The drawing doesn't have anything 7cm long or wide, but it did have one at 6.5cm. Eyeball the fraction up and there you go. D.B. Andrus
