Here is my recently completed Revell Bf 109G-10 Erla in 1/32 scale.  I added a few aftermarket items including:

A.M.U.R. Reaver Bf 109G-10 Erla Resin Cowling
A.M.U.R. Reaver Bf 109G/K Resin Spinner and Prop Blades
Aires Bf 109G-10 Resin Cockpit
Barracuda Studios Bf 109G-10 Resin Exhausts
Eduard Bf 109G-10 Metal Landing Gear Legs and Gear Covers
Montex Maxi Masks
Small wheel bulge wing set from the Revell Bf 109G-6 kit

I chose to portray Erich Hartmann's G-10.  This machine sported Hartmann's distinctive black tulip markings on the nose.

John,

This really looks exceptional.  I really like how you've added wear through various media to add depth and texture to each surface.

One thing that interests me is that you have smoke and oil passing under the ETC rack.  This implies that the rack was removed, or not put on until it was needed.  It's a detail I've never considered to explore in pictures.

Excellently done!

Amazing Gustav you did there! Bravo!

Thank you!  This is the second time around with this Revell kit so that previous experience helped me.

Stellar effort,

Thanks for sharing.

Regards,

Thanks Kahuna!  I appreciate the comments!

Hey Gaz... that was not intentional.  I simply weathered the bottom prior to adding the drop tank rack.  I'm not sure if they were commonly removed but I'll have to consider that type of thing more carefully in future builds.

Lovely work mate. I'd agree with Gaz and would also like any pointers as to how you achieved the weathering. Well done

Thanks Tim!  I tried to describe my painting weathering process in my build report, which you can check out on the Works In Progress board.  My general philosophy is to use a layering approach to achieve that final desired appearance.  It starts with the marbling pre-shading.  In order to allow the pre-shading to show, I spray highly-thinned camo colors at a thinner/paint ratio of about 4:1.  There are some drawbacks (takes a long time to build up the color coat, susceptible to paint pooling while spraying, and the finish tends to be more fragile) but I think the results are worthwhile.  I throw some post-painting techniques on top of that to add depth/weathering including post-shading, pastel wash and salt fading.  I did not do any oil filtering on this build.  I try not to let any one layer dominate and aim to have each contribute to the final appearance.
