I'm pretty sure this was it for me.  It may have been the Monogram Cessna 140, which my big sister helped me with around the same time, but I distinctly remember thinking the shark mouth was about the coolest thing I'd ever seen.  I'm thinking it was around late 1967 or early 1968 when I was in Kindergarten at McKinley Elementary (now closed) in Livonia, Michigan.

Scored this mint copy off eBay for less than $10 (originally like 49c), and it appears to have vintage 1960s cellophane wrapping still on it.  Considering framing the box and the contents in a shadowbox type frame at some point.

Nostalgia...

PS:  Really liking Imageshack...

Yup - pretty sure mine was the Revell Porsche 911

https://www.scalemat...sche-carrera-rs

that yellow plastic sticks out in my memory - plus even as a kid I loved the look of the 911 - still wouldnt mind a 1:1 :)

edit; ha dur I guess I should read better - first plastic airplane - I guess that wouldnt be a porsche. I actually dont recall exactly what my first airplane model was - probably a monogram WW2 fighter though - maybe that hellcat that had all the "working" features....

I think mine was an Airfix Spitfire or Hurricane when they were selling 1/72 models in bags. Put the whole thing together in about an hour. My hobby knife was my teeth. :D

To the best of my memory, this was one of the very first models I every built; way back in the early 1950's. Must have taken me all to 30 minutes to build and decal placement was easy, as the making were embossed right on the model

Mine was a 1/72 biplane (or perhaps even triplane) of some sort, in red plastic. I was about 4 years old at the time. I really don't remember what, exactly, it was!

I built that red Fokker triplane. It was a 1/72 airfix.

Pretty sure my first was a McLaren Mk8, which i pooled tube glue into the fenders of the inverted body, and set the wheel-less tires into the glue. I threw away the leftover parts because they were useless to me.

Revell USS Massachusetts, which led to a long period of "ships", but I found 1/32 Revell in 1972, and stayed with it since then.

I do have the Revell USS Hornet with the Doolittle Raiders, in the original plastic wrap in an honored place in a book case.

Well, this one was it......way back in the sixties my dad bought it, and with my not to genius help (breaking off parts from the sprues) he glued it together with the same glue he used to mend shoes.....lots of yellow creamy glue residue oozed out of most parts afterwards.....BUT I WAS HOOKED.....!!!

Whilst I had a few of the old balsa gliders and rubber powered stick planes, my first plastic model was the old bag kit Triplane ( I was big into Enemy Ace so it was right up my alley !)... though I remember it being a white or light grey plastic... 49 years ago....

I'm not 100% certain but it was either the Aurora Me-109 or Hawk F-84. Or it might have been one of these. Ya hafta remember, that was over 60 years ago!
