Guest UMIRESIN
Eve from the insomniac Today I had a large box delivered . Inside a new 1/32 Ju-88 vac kit . Mind you I had the old I.D. models kit so I pretty much knew what to expect upon opening this box . Afterall Jeff Roberts is running many of the same masters once used by I.D. so I figgured this was the same kit as i sold quite awhile back . Passable & buildable with patience of course . WOW ! Was I wrong ! ! This new kit from Roberts is an entirely different kit & 100% nicer . It is pulled in nice thick plastic , and has some of the nicest surface detail I have ever seen on a vacuform . A huge improvement over what i expected . And this one comes with the " Mistel " nose . Now all I have to do is try and ignore it & concentrate on my resin masters ( sigh )
Allok
Good luck with the ignoring thing. How about a few pics before you start ignoring it? Harold
LSP_Mike
Dave, the last time you tried the ignore thing, it went what, 2 pages? Allok has the right idea. Post some pics, then we can dicuss it, and you can finish the masters, and catch up later.
leitch
How do I get one?
Sabre F-86
I was rather amazed at it too when I got mine. Aside from a couple of corners which were short pulled, the detail is pretty nice. I didn't think it was actually a combat kit when I got it. I had one up for sale, with no takers ( I was ridiculously over priced) so I've decided to build it sooner or later. I'll never get my money out otherwise. I've also picked up Jerry Ruttmans details for it. Sabre Harold
thierry laurent
I'm wondering if initially it was not one of the German molds made for Schmidt (like the Ju52)? BTW, if you compare the ID and Combat kits, you've some surprises regarding dimensions... Compare the tails for instance. I worked a little bit on a Mistel project two years ago and finally concluded that I needed both kits...! FYI, Jerry Rutman is selling interesting detail parts such as landing gears, engine faces and propellers. The original Combat kit (the one I own) had very similar parts in white metal. Guest UMIRESIN
Good Morning my fellow 1/32 knutz ! ! All I have is a cheapo web camera , but I will try to get these pics clear as possible . i also got the resin / metal detail set for this big bird . the maingear in particular looks super nice . . I'm sure Jerrys may be even better though knowing Jerrys work . F.Y.I -- I am jeffs " link " to overseas customers as he ( still ) has no computer , or websight . If you are out of the states you can contact me directly at my business E-mail UMIRESIN@AOL.COM Those of you in the states can contact Jeff directly at his cell phone ( best calling around 10:00 - 3:00 EST) at this number 570-450-5647 Or you can write at ROBERTS COMBAT MODELS c/o JEFF ROBERTS 18 EAST CLAY AVE WEST HAZELTON , PA. 18201 the retail on this kit is very nice too . at only $37.95 a real bargain at todays prices the add on set is 30.00 I can see this was a " pulled " vac . meaning it was pulled into a female mold pattern -This makes it possible to vac in panel lines etc . unlike the I.D. kit I had which was a " draped " vac , meaning it was drawn over a male mold . In person you can see access panels , and all on this one too . The " tapes" on the fabric surfaces are well done . Plus there are numerous engine & nose type options . imatt88
Hey all, I'm digging up an old post. Does anybody know if this was ever built? I have one and I would like some tips on how to build it. Cheers Ian Alburymodeler
Rick Griewski
I have one in my Shelf of DOOM box and I have an extra kit, with extra clear parts and a Jerry Rutman detail set. For me it was a fun and challenging build and/but I stumbled into inaccuracys at the last minute (IIRC the engine nacelles are too small). The second kit was to "do it smart" but I lost interest when the Revell kit was released. It is worth building and there are many accessories and AM for the Revell kit that will speed the build along (not cheating in my mind). I may get back to it just for the bragging rights of completing a vac kit. Jeff is a great man to work with BTW. imatt88
Rick, If you end up with any extra parts, let me know How are you planning to handle the "small nacelle" issue? Cheers, Ian
LSP_Ron
Okay, I'm confused. Why would someone do a "new" 1/32 Ju88 vacuform kit? Am I wrong, or doesn't Revell Germany make just about the nicest 1/32 Ju88 kit that anyone could ever hope for? Note the date this thread started..... imatt88
Sorry Jennings, I have a bad habit of dredging up old threads. I do, however, plan on building the vac into a mistel, (someday) Revell's Ju 88 is by far the best kit out there Cheers, Ian

Tony T
Please do the humane thing and shoot this thread in the head. There's no need to agonise over throwaway pulled coffee cup technology in the light of the RoG Ju 88s together with a *horde* of aftermarket options Tony
