Royboy
Hi Everyone, We in the 32SIG/LSP U.K Group have been discussing the annual award that will be presented at Telford for the first time in 2017 to remember in perpetuity the work and life of Edgar who as we know was lost to us all fairly recently. We are in somewhat of an impasse as to what subject or subjects it should be presented for though. This is where you could all enter the arena so to speak. Through this forum we would like to hear all of your ideas and contributions so that we can get the widest spectrum possible of any thoughts from fellow members on this special award. We expect that his local club (Thames Valley) will be the presenting authority subject to discussion and their approval in due course. So, please present your thoughts and then we will proceed accordingly. Many thanks, Roy. Old Dog and LSP_Kevin
TonyT
What an absolutely superb idea and a fitting tribute to a guy who not only knew his stuff, but was very free with that knowledge and would go the extra mile to help anyone out.

MikeC
It has to be something Spitfire-related. Agree with the ideas above.
jenshb
I think all knew him as "Mr.Spitfire", so in my mind, best Spitfire/Seafire would be the most appropriate. Jens LSP_K2
dennismcc
Edgar was Mr Spitfire to me, but he was also very knowledgeable about other aircraft. Cheers Dennis MikeC
desmojen
He used to work as an instrument fitter, but I think it's more than fair to suggest that his passion was the Spitfire and as such that would make a great basis for an award. rjones726
Spitfire is the obvious choice but I was always impressed with his attention to detail and research ability. Maybe the trophy could incorporate those qualities as well. Edited August 15, 2017 by rjones726
Lee White
While I agree that Edgar was THE Spitfire expert we are all familiar with, I once asked for info on the Supermarine Scimitar, and he came through with bales of info for me, God bless him. I guess my suggestion would be, would he want to be remembered as a Spitfire expert, or as an expert on all flying things British? Only someone who knew him well can answer that. Royboy
Hi All, Here is the update on the Edgar Brooks Memorial Trophy. The trophy has now been engraved and will be dedicated to the 'Best Large Scale Spitfire' as agreed with the Thames Valley Model Club's Keith Sherwood and we hope that all the members here and at the club will agree with the final dedication decision. The Trophy results will be decided and then presented at Telford to the winner by the Thames Valley Club representatives over the weekend. The winner gets to keep the trophy in perpetuity for that year. We look forward to seeing who that winner will be for 2017!!
