F-104 Demo

I may have posted this before but I was just watching it again as it's one of my favorite planes and best demo of it I've ever seen or witnessed.  Amazing flying skill shown here, very smooth and if you watch closely a lot of speed brake and flap use through out the display.

Hope you enjoy.

My old man, a former GAF Zipper jock himself, just watched the video: "Yeah, nice. But I've seen better ones..."

Anyway, watching the video put a huge smile on his face. Absolutely priceless. (Due to his terminal illness, you'll rarely see him smile...)

A couple of years ago, he had the chance to meet Rick Svetkoff and Wolfgang Czaia. Wolgang Czaia was one of his instructor pilots, by the way.

Thanks for sharing!

A nice display, and interesting to see when the airbrakes were applied.

Whatever happened to the T tail? Still a fixture on lumbering transports, but disappeared from fighters about the mid '50s.

Seems everyone went with the Lightning's low rear mounting style , which I imagine helps in hi alpha situations.

In the seventies/eighties we had this 104-demo pilot, Hans van de Werf, in the RNLAF (netherlands), who was famous for doing a 360 turn within the airbase boundaries in full afterburner with these airbrakes fully out, which was pretty tricky to do as i recall his comments on that manoeuvre......awesome to see :piliot:
