OoB Matchbox Spitfire 22/24

Got started on the same kit as Chris/Germany.

Perhaps a good comparason in building methods. Not the endresult .

I desided to make the three-piece underwing into a one-piece. Unlike stated in the plans.

...it was't easy to fix the fuselage to the wingrootsconstruction, because of the odd way Matchbox's made this kit, to ensure a smooth fit.

Perhaps it's my odd way of building the kit... :D

But it turned out good.

Modelcraft of Canada is supposed to be re-releasing this kit. I'm hoping that we can get some new detail sets and decals out of the after market guys as a result of this.

Hi Steve,

Good point on the aftermaket. But if it's just the old mold being used again, that won't change anything on the bad fits the kit has.

I was planing to put in the engine but the fit was so bad that I now will only use the exhausts and leave the rest out.

So it will just be a Spitfire with no detail to show.

This is infact not so bad taking into account that other brands olso bring out new molds without an engine.

But this old Matchbox will never win the price of 'best of kits '

So the 'new' release of the kit will not be such a hit if they just put in new decals

...primed with Humbrol enamel.

Not sure what country to make.

The kit has Pakistan decals...perhaps that one.

I haven't seen many build kits in those markings.

The short gunhousings have been replaced by longer ones, after noticing the incorrectness of the kit parts

...started painting.

It's going to be an overall airframe silver plane with EGYPTIAN markings.

I'm glad nobody noticed my mistake earlier when I said there were decals for a Pakistan plane

Like your work Erwin. Silver/natural metal finished have to be one of the toughest we modellers face I reckon - they show up all the mistakes made on the model, all the joins not cleaned up, etc. You've done a great job with this one tho'. Love to see it when it's finished.
