mgbooyv8
Thanks Ole! Hi Derek, The too forward position of the wing front spar fuselage pick-up/vertical tube former becomes apparent by the too long seat of the chair and the too short distance to the rudder pedals, I think. I can help you out with the Windsock, PM is on its way. Cheers, Peter

mgbooyv8
Hi Guys, The interior is finished. Here are some pictures before closing up: All components are there. The aluminium colored vertical rods in front of the metal frame are the aileron control push-pull rods. I didn't opened up the holes in the fuselage, so I could cheat in case of misalignment issues. Don't tell anyone!
mgbooyv8
And here a picture with the seat in place: And now it's time to close the fuselage! Cheers, Peter

Spads57
Peter, Excellent work on the interior and no doubts the rest of the project will be the same.Looking forward to your next update. Regards, Gregory Jouette
mgbooyv8
Thanks, Gregory! Well, here's the next update. Last week, I've been busy sanding the fuselage. The halves were a bit out of alignment, but the plastic is thick enough to sand everyting smooth without use of putty. Furthermore, ejector pin marks were removed from the lower surface of the upper wing, horizontal tailplane, wing- and undercarriage struts. The next picture shows the cutout in the lower forward fuselage. It will be covered with a piece of beercan (thanks for the tip, Butler! ). The tail skid got the attachment structure for the metal skid itself and the aft fuselage got reinforcement rings for the control wire holes: In the cockpit, a curved piece of plywood is present behind the pilots'seat. A piece of plasticard is added here: The engine cowling needs some thinning at the lower inside and aft edge. I used a very large dentists mill for that - Ask your dentist for old examples. (they use such large mills in your mouth to grind away rotten teeth!! ) Then, I added strengthening plates at the cutout of the undercarriage and both joining strips on the topside (not yet ready on the picture): Next jobs will be attaching the lower wings, undercarriage and horizontal tailplane to the fuselage. The wings are already drilled to receive rigging wires. Cheers, Peter
ruzlkampf
Whoohoo! Looking good Peter! Nice little additions. More pics,...more pics!!! I'm coming back over to the GB's for awhile and bug everybody here. Hope you don't mind?! So,....are you going to be using the kit decals for this, or going with something different? Looking forward to seeing where you're going to go with this buddy. Later, Russ
mgbooyv8
So, Russ, you're going to bug everybody here...hmmm, we will wait for you! :fight: ...but thanks for the compliment! Anyway , i'm going to use a nice set of Spada Decals, I got from Dave as a raffle prize in the Under fifty Group build last year. It is very interesting as it has different roundels on the left and right wings. It can be seen in the first post of the thread. mgbooyv8
Thanks, Erwin! A small update. Lower wings, main undercarriage and horizontal tailplane are added: The elevators are bended downwards, as they hang down when the aircraft is parked. Don't forget to add the connecting tube between the left and right elevator! The lower wings will have to be bended slightly upwards, but this will be catered for when the upper wing is in place. The wheel axle fairing is not entirely straight near the rubber bungees, so a small piece of plastic strip and some filing took care of that. Beware! The way the undercarriage struts are designed leads you to glue them on backwards. Guess how I found out! The joints of these struts with the fuselage are fragile. The real one has some reinforcement strips in this area. I intend to make these from aluminium tape (I have some "Speed Tape" from the office which is very useful for this purpose ).
