Marmaduke
Hello all...I'm back with another update...finally! I ran into a little trouble while I was dry fitting the fuselage halves together. As you can see in the picture, the part at the bottom of the cockpit was attached upside down and therefore stuck out the bottom and would not allow the fuselage to come together so I had to do some minor surgery to fix that but all is well now. The fit on this kit is absolutely amazing! Tamiya never ceases to amaze me. After that was fixed I mixed some colors hoping to land on a good primer color for the wheel wells and oil cooler intakes. I'm not sure if I'm happy with it or not. While I decide, I glossed the cockpit sidewalls and added a few more decals. Anyway, that's all for now folks! Thanks for looking! Marmaduke
Greetings all! Thank you for all the kind words and having an interest in my build everyone! I have a little more progress to show...got the oil tubes installed on the front row of cylinders and the glass is all masked off. This was my first time masking the inside of the glass. The Montex masks are nice but they don't really like complex curves. I'm probably going to have to do a little more with the blue tape. I'm anxious to see how it turns out. The fuselage and inner wings are all just dry fitted. Enjoy! andromeda673 and Lars Befring

Marmaduke
Hey gang! Got a small update for ya! I finished drilling all the holes for the oil tubes and wires on the rear set of cylinders, closed up the fuselage and filled in what the instructions said to fill in. Could be a while before my next update, I'll be out of town all weekend and then 6 twelve hour days after that which leaves little time for modeling. Until next time, thanks for looking and happy modeling! andromeda673

Marmaduke
Ok, I got some more bench time today! First I painted the inside of the canopy and windscreen interior green. Then I painted over the "salmon" primer in the main gear bays using the lower fuselage color. I used the salt chipping technique here and tried to give it just a little bit of chipping without over doing it. What do you guys think? After that was done I painted the engine gloss black in preparation for the Alclad II. Other than the occassional Alclad II paint job I mainly use Model Master enamels. Finally, I glued the fuselage to the wing root. I'm happy with todays progress so now it's time for a celebratory Heineken! Happy modeling everyone and thanks for looking! andromeda673

Marmaduke
Okay so I've finally begun wiring this beast! I must be insane! I'm using copper wires that I've annealed to make them more pliable and also to give them a weathered look. All wires are attached where they are supposed to be...no cheating! I haven't added the wires to the front yet, I will add those with pieces trimmed off of the others since they are very short.
