Howdy folks,

K2 presents the second of his two AOA Decals reviews:

AOA Decals 32-024: VA-65 Tigers (2) USN A-6E TRAM Intruders in the Cold War & Desert Storm

Thanks, Kevin!

And thanks to AOA Decals for the review sample.

Kev

Thanks for the plug, Kev. Trumpeter may receive a couple of additional purchases, as both myself and my roommate are now looking for an A-6 at a decent price. I'll more that likely go for a high vis A-6A, completely festooned with bombs.

Kevin

I was going to procrastinate tonight, but decided to wait.

Sweet, good stuff K2.  Makes me want to build one with that desert CVN71 ship.

Yep, I like that one too. I also like a couple of the others as well, so what a dilemma.

Hi,

Those look great.
Any chance of some 1/32 scale love for Pacific Fleet VA squadrons from Desert Storm?

I already have 32-003, but a little Midway Magic or something from the Ranger (VA-145 or 155) would be very cool.
Cheers

Bill Inglee

Really like AG500.  There were some interesting schemes out there as the fleet made the transition from full color to the (boring) overall greys.

Talk to Ziggy in the vendor forums, that'd be your best bet.

Yep, now I just need to chase down an Intruder kit.

Agree Sunday Punchers with the Japanese style type is THE unit.
I really have no idea why they have been ignored considering.
Strange.
Nice to see some more A-6 decals though nice high viz schemes.

It's the usual case of too many possible schemes; damned if you do, damned if you don't type situation. There's probably hundreds of possibilities if A-6s even to cover between both USN/USMC squadrons, and then specific era/year for each. Although I'd love to, they can't all be covered, and everyone has their personal favorites that end up being skipped.

And if anyone has really good close up of punchers tail insignia from Desert Storm, email me. Never know what future may hold. (I've already got their high viz period covered)

The Zotz A-6A sheet has one Sunday punchers Scheme (VN) if I am not mistaken

There is but pretty sure the interest here is in their 70s scheme with the fancy Japanese style AC tail codes on the white tail.
