Painting Wheels/Tires, Specifically Hasegawa 1/32 F4B-4

I've now tried several techniques. None have yielded acceptable results. I've stripped and painted 3 times now. The template directly over tire was close, but due to somewhat rounded tire sidewall, it still resulted in a bit of a soft edge due to offset between template and tire. I scribed a line between wheel and tire, but I just suck at free handing and couldn't keep it exact enough. The single sliced circle was close. I think I shot too heavy a coat of paint and got some bleed under.

I need to improve my skills and the only way is practice. So, I'll forge ahead and keep trying. I can tell I'm badly out of practice.

Here is the kit as it sits, sans wheels/tires.
