Just to show a resin nose-job on a plastic kit:
The biggest challenge was cutting each exhaust horn off its plastic base and re-installing them on the resin nose.
The cowling flaps were almost as tough, but, you see the results.
Since the model still exists, I can do more photos.
For the record, this model was built a while back.
Since I had no air-brush at the time, the finish was hand-bristle brushed Testors enamels.
At the time AMtech was taking a standard P-40 IM kit, and modifying it by adding a resin nose or tail-piece for a different variant.
This one was their so challenging of a build, that a well-published author wrote a chapter in a book devoted to its' construction.
I bought both the book and then the kit, and went tool shopping!
