ugh

thought my plan was fool proof

didn't take into account capillary action...

so now I find myself building a ship in a bottle like the directions said to

at least with out the firewall the seats fit in (glue drying now), the door latches will be easy to place and the mirror attaches to the windscreen.

The dash will be a challenge though

Not happy about having to paint the body while its attached to my finished interior, but oh well

I knew this build was progressing too easily!

phew

After sweating a few moments, I finished the "ship in a bottle" stage.

Got the wheel and column in, door latches, pedals and then glues the firewall on.

I know I need to provide pics and I will.

Need to apply some putty in some spots then start painting the firewall.

after gluing the body to the interior ahead of schedule I had to plan out how to do this

in went the passengers seat, while I did the belts for the drivers seat

then the drivers seat

then the door latches and steering wheel/column

followed by the pedals and firewall

once all that was done I applied putty (see above) and got the fuel filler in place

started the fuel tank, went for aluminum to break up the black on the underside

the shot my mule in the 3 potential base colors for the blue

after 3 previous steps that say to attach the body to the interior, there is a fourth mention of it which in passing mentions "after you've attached the windows"......

fml

really...I swear I need to re-write these instructions for Harold.

I need to own up and state that I didnt read 12 steps ahead to see what was needed.

But damnit!

So as the parts dry after a bath in future (which will allow me to use CA to attach them) I'm washing the majority of the parts that are left.

That said, its an absolutely gorgeous day here and progress is progress.

I did get the inner splash shield/fender liners glues to the hood and made the rearview mirror mount up.

Once the parts are scrubbed down I can start working on those and the myriad of plumbing required for them.

Then paint the firewall white and start painting the add on features.

I really do miss proper instructions to save me from myself.
