Marseilles Bf-109F4 Wrk Nr 8673

In the analysis accompanying their decals Real Life notes that 8673 was equipped with the wide blade prop usually associated with the F-4Z/Trop and early Bf 109 G machines.  But there is no documentary evidence of any F-4Z/Trop aircraft assigned to  I./ JG 27 during this period.  However there are photos of 8673 which clearly show the narrow VDM 9-12010 prop typical of the F-4 Trop machines assigned to JG 27.

To complicate matters, there is a photo of a Bf 109 F in Shores and Rings Fighters Over The Desert. Arco Publishing 1969, which is described by the authors as assigned to Marseille.  The cowling, sporting the I./ JG 27 emblem, is seen (partially) on the ground next to the aircraft.  This aircraft does have the wide blade VDM 9-12087 prop.

Here is an unidentified Bf 109 F displaying the I./JG 27 emblem with the small native head without the earring and the small lioness.

The native's complexion appears to be consistent with the cowling color, which is undoubtedly RLM 79.
