It's been a while since I posted anything. My apologies but I got caught up.

I have been working on the new Airfix P51 D for our clubs “Airfix Cup†to be held at the NSW Scale Model Show on the last weekend in April. This is a quick overview of the build as I am fairly advanced on the build. AM consists of Ultracast seat, Eduard wheels and HS standard cuffed prop. Paints are MM or Colourcoats enamels, AKI Extreme Metals and varn8ishes:

As this was my first NMF scheme, I primed the build with AKI black base. I then obtained a set of homemade masks from. A mate of mine with a silhouette cutter and placed these prior to the AKI Extreme Metal 479 Aluminium:

Thanks Gents,

In reality she's good at a metre, closer not so much as far as the NMF is concerned in some places. Still a very good build experience with few vices. Good enough to warrant a return with another kit already purchased and a slew of Eduard AM to put in it. I view these as practice for the 1/32 kits I have stashed and looking at the new Revell.

Question is how long do we  practice? I have the Tamiya 1/32 P-51, but too scared to attempt it. Looking at your build, I think I must drop down to 1/72 again   Heaven forbid I try my 1/24 Mosquito.

Welcome back,

Rested from holidays, it was time to get back to the bench. I masked the flying surfaces and a couple of upper fuselage panels and sprayed them with AKI Extreme Metal Polished Aluminium. I then masked the anti glare panel with MM Olive Drab enamel:

Next up is the masking for the US insignia and tail serials.

Looking good,

I built the same Aircraft last year using the ICM clone of the Tamiya kit and some M-10 rocket tubes from the Tamiya P-4738392777234_ae5e8ed221_z.jpg

yours is looking better than mine as I managed to loose the serial numbers...

have fun and i look forward to seeing your progress....

That's a nice result! Hopefully mine will end up as good. I may resort to masking the serial, so if I do, you are more than welcome to the decals if you want them.

I like it John,

There are some small items such as the seat and wheels that Ijust don't like but all in all an excellent kit.

Well the US insignia are on. My first attempt at multi part masking so I wasn't expecting perfect but happy with the result:
