Hello to you all

Over here to warm for modelling 31°c so time todo some other things

I have a good look over my stash to get a idee of what i have

Opend some boxes to see whats in it

And one off my boxes have enough aftermarket from difrent companys to build 3 kits

that makes me think do you guys have the same problem like me

I think for me the hunt for some parts is beter than building them.

Like to here from you

I gave up arguing about this with myself years ago..

I'm a collector who builds models of items I want.

I started as a model builder during WW2.

Nowadays I prefer to make sculpture and just pick up a model already built when I see something special I like.

I have a large stash of kits so I can build what I need when I feel I need it built.

But over the years I have been including some models in my sculpture.

Other kits I sell off on eBay when I need some ready cash (usually to buy other goodies).

I have sold off my extensive collection of German made (during WW2) identification model aircraft ion 1/50 scale, as well s my collection of 1/36 scale slush molded ID model tanks as made in the USA during WW2. Also traded off my WW2 1/72 collection  of ID airplanes cast in  Bakelite plastic. My collection of USA made ID model WW2 warships in 1/500 scale were sold many years ago as were my collections of camouflage uniforms.

I get pleasure collecting these things and then when I have satisfied my habit I sell off the collections an start collecting other models.

The models I make I'll sell off too.

Over the years when I moved up to larger scales I sold off the stash of smaller kits. I sold the 1/72 a/c to move up to 1/48 aircraft and later the 1/48 went to move up to 1/32 and 1/24.

All my tank models are gone except for anything from 1/20 to 1/15 scale vehicles.

My sculpture is hard to sell so I keep most of them.

By the way,, there are guys who do not build their plastic models anymore; they collect the unbuilt kits.

I do what I do because it gives me pleasure to do so.

I'm a builder who has a very modest stash of kits that will either disappear soon (WNW as an example) or kits I have purchased or traded for when the price was right. AM is a bit heavy but only for the fact that when I'm ready to actually start a build, the madness of finding much needed and wanted AM forces me to dedicate way too much time searching on line and then paying top dollar. I try to follow up with a kit purchase with the AM I will need at the best price I can find.

I've sold off a good portion of my stash of those kits that were either impulse buys or those no longer part of my build plans for the future. I have found myself the past few years buying less and less, being quite a bit more selective and watching the dollar a lot more as well.

I'm a plastic model builder, not a collector. My stash limits are a max of 12 1/32 kits, and 6 1/20-1/25 race cars. That's it. I build one, I buy one. I'm also not a big AM type of guy. I really try to keep it to a min. IP, seat, seatbelt & Harness, & wheels, and decals are about it for me. I prefer to try and add details that I make whenever possible.

I think I'm a builder. I've been modelling since the 60's and have built up a number of reasonably sized collections of built models. However once built they slowly become forgotten and have eventually been thrown away, normally when a house move was involved. So I would start building again. However I slowed down over the decades and even had a period in the 90's and 00's where I built nothing and had a very small stash in the loft. By nature I'm not a completer finisher and I think I am a collector,  mainly of partially built as well as unbuilt kits with a scattering of completed models. As I've reread what I've just typed I realise I've confirmed I am a collector and a builder therefore I have no idea what I am !!!! I am happy though and will continue in the same vein :)

Both I'm afraid and my stash far outnumbers my built :( But I've been slowing down the stash amassing and even thinning it down every so often, when I buy a kit now there will be a very good reason for it, the impulse kit buying has stopped, but if its Tamiya 1/32 it gets bought on release, my only exception.
