HK 1/32 B-17 Landing Gear Correction?

Looking at the kit parts if you wanted to shorten them to represent something more like the maintenance manual or represent a heavy load i think the easiest way would be use a saw and replace the kit strut with aluminium tube. Be careful the kit weighs a ton and if you go that way you may weaken the axle join on the lower gear leg.

You may also get away with sawing out say a 1mm slice inserting wire reinforcement and that may be a better option.

The kit isnt off spec by much at all and a quick look around at WW2 B-17 pics shows many non standard strut lengths.

If you cut the gear leg be careful with such a big kit.
