I thought the seam/ skin join was slightly offset from center.... something in the back of my mind (ya..I know...what mind? :mental: ) tells me I've seen pics of it slightly offset.. could be a different mark or I could be confusing with the FW 190.

Hi Vaughn, wouldn't be offset because it was a butt join.

The verticle joins were joggled seams as seen in these photos...

Compare these photos to assembly line shots of American aircraft and you'll see why Germany lost the war...

 

Well, these pictures are clearly a product of  Willy's marketing/propaganda campaign . The production numbers were decreasing due the broken infrastructure . Also let us not forget that the hands that build 109s weren't German hands, and  fear, hunger and desperation wouldn't  look so good on the posters in Goering's office. Lastly, how many bombs fell on American assembly lines? :)
