Hello,

Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away . . .  everybody knows this opera of the biggest space opera all the time: STAR WARS.

I always thought about the wonderful spaceship of Han Solo which is the most beautiful space ship ever in my eyes... now I want to build the Falcon finally... in 1/72 scale from Revell's Master Series. The kit is equal to the Fine Molds kit with more then 900 parts.

Additionally I will use the etched parts from Paragrafix, some 3D-printed parts for the guns, the cockpit and the antenna. The engine will receive some clear resin parts, the exhausts some resin updates as well.

And ... the most important thing for the Falcon.... I will illuminate it. It is the first time I will do this ...

So let's start... I began with the planning of the lights. Finally I have decided to go like this:

63gh4pzk.jpg

Red = red LEDs (8), yellow = warm white LEDs (14), blue = cold white LEDs (5), light blue = LED strap for the engine (1), plus one blue LED and some fibre optics for the cockpit.

Here we go with the LEDs marked on the hull (downside):

Next I will add some details on the outside and inside of the bottom side of the ship, then I will drill the holes and make the wiring ...

I hope you like the new project ...

Cheers
Micha

Micha, I can't wait to see your work on this.

I have the Fine Molds release in the stash which is the same as your Revell kit. Revell contracted Fine Molds to reissue the kit after Fine Molds lost the Star Wars license to Bandai in Asia.

In case you didn't know, one of our forum members Johnny Crash makes clear resin engine upgrades as well as as some PE for the kit. He's also on Starship Modeler.

Very cool!  I am about to embark upon a similar journey but in a smaller scale: the 1/144 Bandai Millennium Falcon so I will be watching with great interest!

I've got one of these kits in the stash. I'm not a sci fi guy , but I'm one of many who thinks that the Millennium Falcon is just totally cool! Looking forward to seeing what you do with this.

Wasn't there a magazine part work available for a studio sized Falcon model some time back?

Yup...here we go..

I've always had a daydream about obtaining planning permission to build a full size Millennium Falcon that's actually a house on the inside. Reckon by looking at plans that you could get a comfortable four bed inside. Sun lounge in the cockpit?

Best regards;
Steve

Thank you so much for all your interest! :)

I have some clear resin parts for the engine, some further "normal" resin parts for the exhausts. Then I will use the photo etched parts from Paragrafix and some parts coming from Shapeways to replace some less detailed ones (antenna, guns, ... )

Cheers

Michael

I've got the same parts from Shapeways too. I also have the cockpit inserts which should help with lighting it.

They do make quite the difference.

Hi Carl,

oh yes they do :) I love these parts. Also the docking rings were amazing and a real improvement to the kit parts. Maybe I will order these too ... :)

But first I will do the lightbox now for the engine lights :)

Cheers

Hello,

I have added some first detail parts on the underside of the Falcon. Some of these inserts were assembled separately, some piping added then inserted from the inside, glued and screwed (!).

Here you could see the clear/blue resin parts for the engine which will replace the plastic parts of the kit.

Next step will be the "lightbox" for the engine illumination ...

Cheers
