I just thought maybe one or two of you may find this of some interest, in light of all the sour stuff in the world these days, today my son got his Promotion to Major in the ** Royal** Canadian Army, at CFB Petawawa......I guess a couple front line tours in Afghanistan didn't hurt in the long run...... Cathy and I are proud of him.... just thought maybe this might be a little good news for a change....not blowing my horn just wanted to share it with you folks...........................

Thanks Ron... I had to laugh at Cathy last night, Tyler called to say hi.... he has been posted to Ottawa to command a unit that helps the 'broken' guys get fixed and or replaced or placed into different jobs due to injures, so it is a good job he is going to for the next 2 years, he then said he wanted to deploy again to Latvia or Iraq, and didn't want an office job..... ... the look on Cathy's face was priceless.... as a guy we usually always want to be where the action is, I guess mom doesn't really get that.... it was kind of funny................ than all of you for your support.... Cathy and I really appreciate the kind words and thoughts....

Minor nitpick. The Canadian Army is not "Royal" in the same sense that the Navy and Air Force are. Like its elder cousin the British Army, it traces its descent from Oliver Cromwel's New Model Army, and therefore is not a Royal Army. This is despite the fact that many (if not most) of its regiments are themselves "Royal".

Congratulations to him, and to you two! Sounds well deserved.

I wonder if I met him indirectly...has he been through the Army Operations Course at the Army Command and Staff College in Kingston? I work there in Fort Frontenac...AOC is one of the hoops to jump through for Captains to qualify for Major.
