mozart
The shades of evening gradually darken and with it the ever present threat from the Lancasters and Halifaxes of Bomber Command and their equally feared escort of Mosquitoes. This was the time for some to prepare for work, Oblt Kurt Gabler flew with JG300, he was one of the "Wilde Sau" freelancing night fighters attempting to find and intercept the bomber stream. Gabler's Bf109G6 "Red 8" had its camouflage sanded back to bare metal in order to optimise its speed in an attempt to catch the Mosquitoes: This aircraft is the subject for my latest build, virtually OOB except for AlleyCat props/spinner and control surfaces. It was a very enjoyable build with the exception of the undercarriage which is very flimsy, one leg snapping when a small piece of card fell on the starboard wing tip.
