BloorwestSiR
Very convincing. What does this wood grain template look like? Thanks Shaka! Here's the template: It's made by RB Productions. They make a couple including one for props. Carl Leaning_Dog and Shaka HI
BloorwestSiR
Excellent work as usual Carl, the wood graining is very effective and I just love the Sopwith Snipe, need to get one myself before too long for my 56 squadron series. Max Thanks Max. I'm enjoying this build so far. There's definitely some new skills to be learned. Same goes for the Snipe. I didn't even know about it until Ernie suggested it. It has a bit of a pugnacious look to it I think. Carl Shaka HI
BloorwestSiR
With my son's Halloween costume done, I was finally able to spend some time at the workbench. I assembled and painted the pair of machine guns. I then attached these to the front of the cockpit assembly. The rear half of the fuselage interior was painted using Gunze Sail. I then assembled the fuselage halves together with the cockpit inside. Shaka HI, Jan_G, Leaning_Dog and 1 other
Shaka HI
Crispy, crispy, man. And I do like the picts even with the messed up cutting mat cause it makes the build itself look really authentic. I should splatter some paint/glue on mine so it doesn't look so antiseptic. BloorwestSiR
BloorwestSiR
Thanks Shaka! The easy way to that weathered look for your cutting mat is to spill some lacquer thinner on it. It'll dissolve some of the markings and give a well worn look to it. At least that's how I did mine Edited November 3, 2016 by BloorwestSiR Shaka HI
Shaka HI
Nah, it won't look authentically "weathered" that way...
BloorwestSiR
It seems I might have missed documenting a step in the build. I painted the upper and forward fuselage sections in Alclad polished aluminum. And then missed grabbing pics of attaching there shoulder belts to the inside of the upper fuselage before I attached it. mozart, Leaning_Dog, Jan_G and 1 other

BloorwestSiR
Thanks guys! I've started the dreaded rigging and it's living up to expectations. Hopefully I'll have something in the morning. Carl
BloorwestSiR
So since I've never done rigging before, I thought I'd start with something simple, like the tailplanes. The first two went OK, the next one no so much as you can see. I think I need to get some CA accelerator or something. Back to the main wing, I removed from the sprues all the struts and cleaned them up. I labeled and mounted each one on a clip for painting. I then painted them in blue based on the scheme I'm doing. Then it was time to start installing them. Uncarina, MikeC, Shaka HI and 1 other
BloorwestSiR
Finally, the upper wing went on. It felt wobbly until the glue set and then was solid. Well, until it slipped slightly in my grip and I caught it instinctively between my legs. Thankfully only a couple struts broke loose at their joints. Shaka HI
Ok..now you're just showing off. Slow down....you're making everyone look like we're slacking! BloorwestSiR
BloorwestSiR
Actually Shaka, it's the kit's doing. It's going together really well, like others have said. I just don't know about the rigging. That'll give you time to catch up Carl Leaning_Dog and Shaka HI
